Baby Boomers (1946-1964)

This generation likes security, commitment, and hard work. Boomers valued structure, hierarchy, and clear expectations in the workplace and worked for the same company for decades. They are trustworthy and enjoy face-to-face conversation. Many retirees mentor and lead society and the workforce. Resilience, devotion, and traditional success criteria like career growth and home ownership define them.

Two generations differ noticeably. Generation Z values adaptability, purpose, and creativity, while Baby Boomers valued loyalty and stability. Baby Boomers prefer in-person relationships, whereas Gen Z prefers digital.

Gen Z (1997-2012)

Our continual access to technology, smartphones, and social media has transformed how kids communicate, learn, and experience the world. After 9/11, the 2008 recession, climate change movements, and the COVID-19 outbreak impacted their outlook.

Gen Z values diversity, inclusion, and social responsibility. We prioritize mental health, openness, and sincerity in their personal lives and the institutions they support. People want flexible, hybrid, or remote work and fulfilling professions. They are less inclined to stay with a company whose beliefs or culture don't match theirs than previous generations. Being connected, innovative, and flexible in a fast-changing environment defines Gen Z.

Generation X

Generation X, which was from around years 1965 to 1980, grew up in a very unique cultural and economic time. This played a pivotal role in shaping their specific characteristics. I would say the people of this generation are very independent and rely heavily on themselves when it comes to handling problems. They grew up with both parents working or a single parent home where they were home alone a lot of the time. At that young age they learned to be independent and take care of things on their own. Another characteristic is that they are very adaptable. They grew up in a time when the internet came out and they went from landlines to now cellphones. They can adapt to these rapid technological changes.

Silent Generation

This generation is probably less talked about today but it spans roughly from 1928 to 1945. This was during the Great Depression, World War ll and even some post war era. I think the most defining characteristic for this generation is their undeniable hardworking attitudes. Going through so must economic turmoil and hardships forced these people to be very disciplined and to work hard to make it. This also leads into their next characteristic which is their respect for authority. They don't question hierarchy and tend to follow rules as they are set. As we know now, the new generation break rules all the time.
