To become a Crime Scene Investigator you have to have a minimum of a four-year degree in the law, the criminal justice system and, of course, the documentation and recovery of physical evidence. That is a lot and many people who want to pursue this career tend to go for their graduate degree because it is a very competitive career choice. Many people pursuing this field also go for on-the-job training to give them an extra boost.

I definitely like the medical and science field, but I don't think a Crime Scene Investigator is necessarily for me. It does sound like a very cool job to me, but personally I would not like to work with dead people or their specimens. If you would make a mistake, it could throw off the whole case. It is just not that intriguing to me.

Employment growth is expected to be greater than most for forensic science technicians, but slower than most for police and detectives from 2014-2024. People will always need Crime Scene Investigators. for when the people died unexpected. This job will never go away.
