1. Death of Grande
The death of Grande was one of the tipping point stat changed Romero's life. Before the death of Grande there were numerous assassinations of innocent people and despite Romero's efforts to stop the government from killing theses people the Government refused to respond. Grande was a passionate advocate for the poor and did countless demonstrations against the Government. This lead to his assassination. Through this event, Romero quickly understood that Grande was living out the Gospels and promoting the less fortunate rights. Romero knew that "when [he] looked at Grande lying there dead [he] thought, if they have killed him for doing what he did, then [he] has to walk the same path".
2. Getting offered a half eaten tomato.
