En el siglo XII, la Plaza de Cervantes era conocida como el `Forum', ya que era un lugar de encuentro donde el pregonero leía las comunicaciones del Arzobispo. Más tarde, cuando se especializó en la venta productos alimenticios, el lugar adquirió el nombre `Plaza del Campo' y la categoría de mercado principal. Cuando el mercado se trasladó a la Plaza de Abastos en el siglo XIX, la plaza adquirió su nombre definitivo de la Plaza de Cervantes.  Dejamos el aeropuerto de Orio el viernes por las siete y cuarto y llegamos a Santiago por las diez, más o menos. Cuando llegamos, conocimos a nuestra familia: Euridice, nuestra madre española y su hijo Monchi, ellos fueron muy charladores y muy disponibles. 
 Euridice es periodista y Monchi estudia economía en la universidad de Santiago. Vivíamos en una casa pequeñita, pero era muy cómoda y tenía todo lo que pudiera servirnos. El finde que tuvimos fue muy cansado, visitamos toda la ciudad y además hicimos senderismo también. Desafortunadamente en el finde llovió muchisimo y no pudimos apreciar el paisaje alrededor de Santiago.
 La semana siguiente tuvimos clases desde lunes hasta viernes, per por la tarde hicimos muchas actividades, por ejemplo entrevistas, unas visitas a algunos museos y también una caza del tesoro.
 En Santiago celebré mi cumpleaños, mi mamá me compró un postre típico de Santiago, osea la tarta de almendras. Esta tarta estaba muy rica y dentro de dos días yo y Giorgio la comimos toda.
 Esta estancia ha sido mejor de la que tuvo el año pasado en Salamanca, sobre todo para la comida, porque me gustó muchísimo.

In the morning we had classes, as usual, but in the afternoon we went to the Pilgrim Museum near Plaza de Platerías. We discovered a lot of things about Santiago and his history.
After thet, we went for chocolate and churros, but personally, i do not like Churros, because i think they are nothing special. By the way, it was very funny.

Esta semana fue muy divertida. El viernes, cuando llegamos, nos presentaron la familia y fueron inmediatamente muy amables. Euridice, nuestra mamá, es periodista y su hijo Monchi estudia en la universidad. Su casa era pequeña pero muy confortable y ella es una cocinera muy buena.
El sábado y el domingo fueron los dos días mas cansados. El sábado por la mañana visitamos la Catedral y por la tarde hicimos una excursión de senderismo en las afueras de la ciudad pero llovía así que no me gustó mucho. El domingo fuimos todo el día a Finisterre: hacía mucho viento pero ¡el paisaje estaba magnífico!
De Lunes a Viernes tuvimos clases por la mañana. Eran muy divertidas sobre todo porque Loli, nuestra profesora, es muy amable.
Por las tardes hicimos varias actividades: el Lunes vimos algunos cortometrajes, pero fueron bastante aburridos. El Martes hicimos una de las actividades que me gustó más: la caza del tesoro. Otra actividad muy divertida fueron los bailes gallegos, que hicimos el Miércoles. El Viernes fue el último día y éramos muy tristes.

In the morning we had classes but the afternoon was nice. First of all we visited the Museum of the Pilgrim where we discovered the history of the pilgrimage to Santiago. Then we ate hot chocolate with churros, a typical snack in Spain. In my opinion they were a little bit dry but they taste very good.

Santiago de Compostela es situada en el Nor-Oeste de España y es  la  capital de Galicia.
Su nombre deriva probablemente del latín ‘compositum tellus’ que significa ‘tierra hermosa’.
Su nacimiento es situado entre 820 y 835 con el descubrimiento del cuerpo del Apóstol Santiago.
Desde la Edad Media es una de las metas de peregrinaje mas conocidas de Europa.
Durante la Edad Moderna y el Período Barroco alcanzó su máximo esplendor con la construcción de muchos palacios.
