A chrome extension that has been extremely helpful for a number of my students and something I tend to use myself from time to time. Google Read & Write is a literary support tool that has a wide array of features from providing vocabulary for words, incorporating pictures for that vocabulary, text to speech and audio options, drawing tools, and much more. In my class, I love using the annotating and highlighting tool for the students when we are going through a text. My school is a one-to-one school so all students get a Chromebook and we have been trying to get students used to annotating on PDFś online more and Google Read & Write has been extremely useful in that. The system itself is very user-friendly and dives deeper into the representation portion of UDL, specifically when it comes to language and symbols. The program helps students decode and clarify vocabulary, syntax, symbols, illustrates words through different mediums, and overall helps students understand language across multiple levels of understanding. A lot of the ways I used to teach and give feedback did not work the same way virtually and I wanted to still have something that felt like a classroom or class community even when we were all home. Actively Learn was a resource my co-teacher introduced me to and is a resource I still use today. Actively Learn allows you to assign a text and have students go through that text and compete for several tasks. These tasks can range from annotating and taking notes, to answering content questions, survey and poling questions with their classmates, and more. I also love that each lesson gives the teacher a guide that provides preliminary knowledge, videos that can be used to help students, and guided questions. The aspect of the program I wanted to highlight was the ability to search through text and manipulate questions by textile levels and standards. This is why I considered this as a resource for engagement looking into the effort and persistence portion specifically varying demands and resources. I can tailor what articles and questions my students get based on their background knowledge and need as a student. I try and start the year by giving students several articles they can choose from and gauge their interest and use the articles as a litmus test of their skills, strengths, and what could use some work.   1. Google Meet is a technology that allows students to see and hear each other and the lesson in class or remotely. It also allows students to put closed captioning on and captioning in multiple languages. 
  2. I use this in my classroom for students who have language needs to have closed captioning on their screens in their preferred language. This increases engagement in my classroom for students who have language barriers because they can answer in their native language and I am able to see a translation on my screen as well. 
  3. I have been using this throughout my time working with students with language needs, though the abilities of this technology have been greatly improved since the start of the pandemic. This type of technology is also available on Google Docs to translate assignments.
  4. This supports inclusion in my classroom because it allows all students to communicate in their preferred language, while understanding what I am saying and I can understand what they are communicating. It also allows students to use their primary language until they are comfortable or proficient enough to communicate in a second language.

    1. These videos are content-based videos that have corresponding activities that can be assigned individually to students and can be adapted to meet the needs of each student’s levels. 
    2. I use these in the classroom as an addition to whole group learning activities to give each student a chance to demonstrate their understanding and take in the content in a different way. This engages the students in their learning through making connections between the content that was discussed and the additional information that they are reading or listening to on the site. 
    3. In my classroom we have used EdPuzzle in several of their classes as a closing activity or an introductory activity. 
    4. This supports inclusion in my classroom through allowing students to work with the material independently because each student has their own assignment designated to their learning level and content.

It is composed of high quality, human-read audiobooks and a suite of teacher resources to monitor and support student progress, it is designed to turn struggling readers into engaged learners. During Daily 5, my students rotate to different reading centers. One of the centers is Learning Ally on their chrome books with their headphones and my students with disabilities have been loving it because the main reason why they "disliked" reading was because they thought it was too hard for them. I never used it until the pandemic happened and we had to start teaching virtually. I had to find it away to incorporate assessments in virtual teaching, while making it fun for my students. I used Google Slides for the lesson, and then drop the Quizizz link in the slides just to see if my students understood my lesson virtually. I wanted to make sure that students every single day were receiving the quality education they deserve so when I was introduced to Quizizz from my coworkers, I implemented it in my classroom right away. It allowed me to make adjustments, real-time in the moment, to address the students’ needs at that particular point in time. I was even able to get real-time feedback, where I could stop and pause to address whatever I needed to address. This was huge because I was able to provide or help my students reach higher levels of academic achievement. This resource is great for remote and in person learning. It provides students with a problem and if the student gets it wrong, it will provide the student with a written explanation, along with a video tutorial. I am also able to hand pick certain questions that I would like the students to complete, I can assign it at a specific time and to a specific class, as well.

    Within my classroom, I utilize DeltaMath as a homework assignment. Typically, the assignment will only take them 15 minutes. this platform reaches the needs of all types of learners, without having me by their side to explain it. It is a great resource for independent practice. 

    DeltaMath provides necessary feedback that allows me to see who is struggling versus who has mastered the content. 

    Inclusion is support through this platform because it allows for a separate class for students that require modifications or accommodations. Some important information about IXl is that: 
    1. It is a personalized learning plan for all students. 
    2. Students can take a diagnostic to pinpoint which math skills they need to work on and it will provide them with the necessary "suggested skills" to enhance their performance in math. 
    3. Students have access to all of this information and do not need to necessarily be assigned an IXL skill to work on it. 
    4. If students are assigned a specific skill, there is a live feature that allows me to see who is struggling versus who is not. 
    5. I am also able to view their level of completion, along with how long it took them to complete an IXL that was assigned. 

    Within my classroom, I utilize IXL in the independent practice station.  I am able to have my laptop open and monitor the students while I am working with another station. If I am not utilizing the live feature, I will be able to track their progress later on in the class and use that toward their daily grade. When I assign them skills to work on, I will give them three skills and ask them to get to an 80%. These skills will progressively get more challenging. If I don't assign a specific skill, I will have students work on their suggested skills during free time or if they need something to work on during tutoring. 

    This supports inclusion because if I assign IXL's, the students are able to be held to a different score expectation. I am also able to work privately with the student through the live feature. Within the live feature, there is a chat box where I can assist the student, without others being aware. Whiteboard.fi gives students the chance to answer questions, draw pictures, or any other activity in real time. So you as the teacher can check on each student as they answer a question. I can utilize this app for do-now's, exit-tickets, or review games. As long as students have technology available, then Whiteboard.fi can be an important asset to any classroom. The best part about Whiteboard.fi is that students can express their understanding in variety of ways. They have a super cool feature where you can put a picture in the background. For a lesson on Manifest Destiny, I had students circle important aspects of the painting we were looking at, and what they meant. I was able to project the painting on the board, and students shared their answers. I was able to see in real time who needed help and who understood the assignment.

    This is extremely helpful in a Social Studies class. With insert learning I can have students answer questions, find more information, and watch videos. I like how I can highlight important text information for students and give them background information. This works great for primary source documents and analyzing text.  This is extremely important for lessons that have students analyze older "English", I can highlight words for them and provide them with definitions. In addition, I can ask students questions in the reading to check for understanding. I can ask them to summarize what they just read, or embed a video for them to watch to help them understand the topic. The best part... it is free and is an add-on to chrome. Also you can insert resources onto ANY webpage. I have used it for lessons on the constitution that had students read through it and answer questions. Trying to level the playing field for student reading comprehension Newsela provides the option of changing the language of the content, the reading level, and provides read alouds.  Newsela also provides thousands of standard and content aligned articles for the subjects of science, social studies, cross-subject, student electives, and news. 
    ·      I utilize Newsela regularly for my students to benefit from the accommodated reading resources for my history class. I specifically utilize Newsela both in person and virtually to assign articles aligned with my social studies standards for my students to analyze. The article’s reading level will be different per student’s reading comprehension level. For example, I have assigned “Ancient Greece: The rise of city-states Athens and Sparta” in the lesson I collected last module’s student samples from. In this class student A is a English language learner, accessing the article in both Spanish and in a lower English reading level. Simultaneously, in this classroom I have 7th and 8th grade level readers, struggling 5thgrade level readers, as well as students that cannot yet read alone. Many of the students will also choose to utilize the audio reader to review any content missed during the collaborative teacher led read-aloud session. I believe this online tool provides resources to all students that promotes inclusion specifically for readers.

  • Google classroom provides a virtual classroom network, making hybrid teaching/learning the norm. All students from all levels are reached and provided with tools to collaborate, synthesize, and assess. The blending learning platform offers various tools for both non-English and English speakers. Google Classroom is user friendly for students at the middle school grade grade level. The learning tool encourages student engagement by keeping their curriculum/classes organized and shareable within the network. The app also enable students/teachers to attend classes and function 100% remotely from home by utilizing standard applications such as google slides/docs to complete projects and write-ups, helping students to learn technology skills along the way. The online platform provides motivation for collaboration among students through Google Classroom’s sharing features for documents and projects.
  • I utilize google classroom regularly to keep each one of my periods organized, in sync, and on track. The blending learning platform does is meant for all learners no matter the academic performance or comprehension levels. The main reason I enjoy utilizing google classroom is for creating, posting, and collecting assessment information from both my 7th and 8th grade students. The most effective tools are googles ability to share each project or document being created with group members, being able to meet virtually, and the ability to create assessment forms and post assignments. 
  • Google classroom assists with providing virtual content and assessments to all learners. Synching virtual learners and virtual content into the classroom. I believe the technology paired with the UDL frame work further supports inclusion for the various diverse learners by providing the tools for collaboration on assignments and easy to complete, submit, or turn in assignments/assessments virtually.

Seesaw is an interactive learning site that can be used to connect with teachers, students, and families. Students are able to show their learning and complete assignments in different ways, teachers are able to view their work and progress, teachers can allow students to view other student work, creating a stream of learning and families can see into their child's learning. Students are able to intuitive multimodal tools (like draw+record, collage, video, and more!) to show what they know in the way that works best for them.

    I use Seesaw in my current classroom with my first grade students who struggle with fine motor skills. I have one student in particular who hates using a pencil because it causes so much frustration. He is now able to complete writing assignments with ease and enjoyment. This is one example of how I use Seesaw in my classroom.

    UDL states, "In reality, there is not one means of engagement that will be optimal for all learners in all contexts; providing multiple options for engagement is essential." This is so very true and we witness it in our classrooms daily. I placed this under the Representation portion of this padlet because it allows the teacher to provide material in several ways. It can provide a visual video with audio, it can provide subtitles. It can have questions and answers inserted into the video. These can be customized as multiple choice questions, open ended questions, or true and false questions. This tool can also display text and other ways to represent information.

    UDL states, "in short, there is not one means of representation that will be optimal for all learners; providing options for representation is essential." Edpuzzle allows for a variety of means of representation. 

    I am not currently using this is my first grade classroom, but I have used it before in a 5th grade classroom. I used it to teach math mini lessons, types of writing, social studies, and science. It is a great resource for current events as well as historical topics. Most articles provide multiple reading levels that can be assigned to students at different levels. It provides text to speech. Many articles also provide video resources to provide context to the articles or expand on them. Upfront also has many teacher resources such as text sets and lesson plans that can also be used. The articles themselves are for students, and they are engaging for students. We often let students pick any article that they want to explore them write a summary or fill out a graphic organizer to show their understanding. It also has books in Spanish, Chinese, and French for ELLs. Teachers can put together curated collections of books for different topics such as historical fiction or non-fiction texts. You can also search texts by grade level, reading level, or interest. It is a fantastic resource for providing books to ELLs when classroom libraries may be limited. Epic also has some audio books and videos. My students loved using it last year because it had many short non-fiction books that they could read quickly because they were at their reading level. In my classroom, I use Jamboard as a way to do "What do you notice?", "What do you wonder?", and "This makes me think about", with my students. This lends well to social emotional learning as well because each student is able to share without judgement from peers and can be open about their own thinking. There are no wrong ways to use Jamboard, and with notice and wonder there are no wrong answers. This game is like Kahoot, but it is a constant flow of questions, there is not wait time for students in the game, they do not have to wait for all students to answer the question to move on to the next. Students answer questions, compete against each other, and can improve their score as they play. Students are told the right answer as they are playing, so they can get it correct the next time the answer comes across their screen. In my classroom, we utilize this in many different ways. We use this as a comprehensive review, a pre-assessment for new content, for fun on Fridays and independent work. As a self-contained teacher, it has been a useful tool that allows me to level ELA instruction and implement it daily in my classroom, despite having students with drastically different reading levels.  For example, although my students are all in 2nd or 3rd grade, I have a student that is reading at a 4th grade level, while another student is reading at a K-1 level.  Epic books allows me to set filters for each individual student based on grade level or reading level allowing students to choose books of their interest within their appropriate level.  Therefore, during the same instructional period, my 4th grade reader and my 1st grade reader, can receive at-level reading fluency and comprehension practice and take ownership by having selected the books they are reading.  It also, allows me to include non-reading students through read-aloud audio options.

    In addition to helping with leveling and inclusion, I have found this resource to be helpful with IEP data tracking, assessments, and progress monitoring.  This is because the site allows for students to take quizzes to evaluate comprehension after having read the text.  Epic Books records and tracks the student’s responses, which allows me to use the information for IEP writing and evaluating progress for IEP goals.

    I discovered BOOM Cards during the pandemic when instruction was transferred to distance learning only. I was challenged with a way to assess my students and gather data in an all-virtual setting while trying to provide skill maintenance to prevent regression for their IEP goals.  Initially, I was spending an extensive amount of time creating virtual materials on Google Slides. Setting individual virtual meets to perform one-on-one assessments was very challenging, so BOOM Cards allowed me to assign and assess them on skills like CVC words and number facts in a way that was engaging for the students and drastically reduced the time needed to prepare for IEP progress monitoring.  BOOM Cards was useful for students that have difficulty with staying on task and maintaining focus, especially in a virtual instructional setting.
