WHAT I APPRECIATE

Despite my constant self-deprecation, I do appreciate a few things about myself. One of which is that I always seem to be the life of the party. As self-proclaimed as this may sound, I can make people laugh, or smile, and I'd always like to think that I exude all positivity whenever I'm around. I'm told my by friend that I'm a walking sunshine, and although my existence remains baffling and mysterious to me through the years- one of the things that keep me going is this sole purpose- to make others happy. Secondly, I'm good at writing, and I appreciate that about myself. Third, I've grown mature now about handling criticisms and having room for improvement, which makes me a batter version of myself everyday. Fourth, my optimism and positivity always affects other people. And lastly, I always fight for what I believe is right. I advocate for progressive causes, and I appreciate that above all else.

WHAT I HOPE TO IMPROVE

For starters, there are numerous things I'd like to improve on. One, I'd like to learn how to focus better, and to have a better attention span. I always seem to drift off and daydream during class, and I'd really want to work on how to stop doing that. Two, I'd want to fix my sleeping schedule. I want to improve on my self-discipline to be able sleeping early, and get things done a lot more in the morning. Three, I'd want to improve on my poetry more. I need to work on my rhyming and writing abilities, and I want to develop more skills in this aspect. Four, I'd want to improve more on my baking and cooking skills. Five, I wanna learn how to be a more compassionate brother to my younger sibling.

SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCES

1). When one of my grandmothers died, and I was standing beside her open casket- it was when I've come to learn that everybody else in my life will someday die. My very first encounter with death, and one of the most heartbreaking.
2). When I came out to my parents about my gender identity and they accepted me for who I am.
3). When I ran for President for our student council, eventually winning, but then, getting withdrawn from position due to my advocacies. It's where I learned that people will always try to bring you down, but what matters is you always try to get back up.
4). When I had my 10th Grade Retreat- it was a very meaningful experience, one that's truly for the books. I got palancas from all my friends, even those that I don't usually talk with, and I've realized that despite my constant self-deprecating thoughts, there will always be people who appreciate me, and due to self-hate, I've always been blinded to that fact.
5). When I became my high school Valedictorian- I've learned that a little hardwork goes a long way. The roots of education is bitter, but the fruit will always be sweet.

1). My parents- taught me that education is what matters most. Hardwork will always pay off.
2). MY GRANDMOTHER Ofelia - always been a lola's boy. She was always there for me no matter what, and her love will transcend my lifetime. There will always be a part of her running in my blood. She's the most significant figure in my life, taught me how to be a person of morals, virtue, and class. She's a leader and she taught me how to be one as well. Her work ethic and success in the academe serves as an inspiration to me- she is everything I want to be.
3). My sister Jamee- my lifelong bestfriend. A built-in companion, and a shoulder to cry on. She's my number one fan, and cheerleader, as I am hers as well. We're inseparable since birth, and we've always been together.
4). My bestfriend Sandra- My walking diary. She knows me more than me. We both know each other's deep darkest secrets, which is scary almost. She's the person who knows me more than anyone else in the world- more than my parents, more than my sister. We've been friends for 8 years now, and I'm sure our friendship will last for a lifetime. I'll always know that she'll be one call away- and no timezone or ocean will ever separate us from each other.
5). My cousins- we were really built-in bestfriends since birth. They're the ones that make life worth living.

I do believe that God sees me as a flower- I always push through the dirt to get to the sunlight. I'm dedicated and hardworking and I believe that God will always be there to water my soils, or cut my weeds. And I will always grow and flourish in his tender loving care.
