Students that have similar needs/areas of confusion will be placed in small groups/pairs to work at the beginning of class. I will have some students "playing" a matching game with icon and term cards. Other students that performed better this week will be able to go into a Doc in our Classroom to type terms to match with the icons. I will push a few students further to type the function of each app is in addition to the correct terminology.

Tomorrow I could have students start class by creating their own 10 question quiz based on what they learned. They could use notes to help them create the quiz, but not any materials that already have questions on them...I could randomly assigned the quizzes created to other students or pick the ten best questions. Maybe I could have the questions be submitted via some sort of live feed? If I pick the questions, I could create a Google Form and then use the results for review and discussion before we begin our Congressional simulation next week...I could display the results (not the student scores) on the board so we see which percentage of students got the correct result...

After they learn those, students will be put into groups that represent the different types of figurative language: simile, metaphor, hyperbole, and personification. Once they choose their teams, we will read the the poem "I Wondered Lonely as a Cloud". Within their teams, students will see how many examples of their type of figurative language they can find within the poem. They will create a list on the PearDeck slide. Once students have completed that we will go over what each team found as a class and discuss if all of their findings are correct. Then, at the end, whichever group has the most correct examples is the winner.

This allows me to see if they can identify figurative language and also explain it.

1. I have seen examples of this activity before, but the way that this is set up is so quick and simple. Students would be able to see the work of peers and can be used during any lesson as a formative assessment.

2. Qualitative vs. Quantitative Formative Assessment- I have had problems with this as well. I want to be able to hear what students have to say, but there are students that just don't give good quality. Maybe there are other ways to get that data.

3. The differentiation lesson templates will be useful for me in the future. I normally plan day to day even if I feel like I have a week ready. I will be creating a form like this to fill out for each of my units.

The social media post method of formative assessment can be a useful tool in multiple situations such as a closure activity or summarization activity.
Having students create a their own quiz is a great idea because it forces them to review what they learned and create quality work since they will be the ones taking the quiz.
When creating formative assessments, questions need to be created in a way that provides useful information.

- I like the social media post platform for sharing in a collaborative Slide. Quick, easy.
- Talking about formative assessment and revisiting areas of weakness is so important for student success.
- I am a huge fan of rotations/stations. It gives students the element of choice, time with the teacher, and addresses several modalities so every student can cover the content in a way they connect with and as a result they feel confident and successful!

Krista - station rotation: I enjoy seeing other tech teachers' activities. I also like that it's not all screen time.
Brooke - Create a quiz: I love the idea of having the kids write their own quiz. Now they have no one to blame but themselves if they fail it.
Sarah - Stations: Differentiation in the station with them reading at their own level. Have you heard of NewELA - you can find the same article that is presented in different lexile levels to match their needs.

1. Cadan - I like you struggle with chunking stuff together and trying to the old school method of teaching to them instead of letting them self-teach. I think that for the types of subjects we teach it can sometimes be more difficult since the content is more abstract.

2. Cadan (again) - I really like how you took the SWOT analysis and updated it with the collage...it makes it fresher for the students and more creative, which is more engaging.

3. Mary - I really like your idea of taking the same concept (the main idea) and having the students do the same thing (analyzing main ideas) but doing different tasks.
