The color of water is written by James McBride. The book is a biography about a kids gowning up black and having a white mother. James life but it is also about the life of his mother gowning up white and having kid with a black men. Ruth the mother went to America and married Andrew Dennis McBride, a black man from North Carolina. They whole book is based about that main event in Ruth's life. You can tell this just by the second paragraph on the book "I was born an Orthodox Jew on April 1, 1921, April Fool’s Day, in Poland. I don’t remember the name of the
town where I was born, but I do remember my Jewish name: Ruchel Dwajra Zylska." The book follows James life and him gowning up with a white mother. It also tells stories from her life as gowning up married to a black men in the south and it tells how her family felt about her getting married to a black man.The target audience for The color of water is Who want to know about what it is like grown up with a different race family than you. There are a lot of examples of tone is this book, Ruth is a very loving person you can tell because she cares for every one of her kids. The theme that I take from this book is That it should be ok the have a interracial family is should not be look down has. Because then though most of Ruth's family look down at her for marring a black man she still went through with it and had kids that are a different race then she is. The book does not really say what changes they that like to make but I think that we should start accenting family's of different races. Some of my favorite quotes from this book are “She couldn’t stand racists of either color” (Chpt. 4, p. 30).Because it shows how Ruth just cant stall racism to either race. I really like this quote because it shows a part of the theme in the book with just 7 words. This book is a very easy read because they uses a lot of approachable diction. For example “The man died without a penny, yet his children grew up to graduate from college, to become doctors, professors, teachers, and professionals all (Chpt. 24, p. 251). This is a very easy sentence. It also teaches you a few new word along the way that you did not know and the word you don't know are easy to find out what they are because there would be a lot of context clues. For example “She and my father brought a curious blend of Jewish-European and African-American distrust and paranoia into our house” (Chpt. 4, p. 28). You might not know what paranoia is but by reading the other word you could figure it out that it is something that you make you stay up at night. This issues is still around because some people still believe that you should only married people from the same race.

One example in modern day life is the article The realities of raising a kid of a different race written by Robyn Wells which is a mother who adopted children of different races.then her's. The realities of raising a kid of a different race has the same theme and faces the problem where her family was being made fun of just because the family had kid that where a different race then the parents. The realities of raising a kid of a different race talks about raising kids of different races. They also talking about some myths of raising kid and teaching them about different races. She first start talking about how she adopted a black child. She some of the thing her other child said that were white. She also takes about some of the problems she went through when she first adopted a child of a different race. The target audience is Parents because she is trying to teach them how to not be racist and also how they should make sure there kids wont be racist. You can tell this by the first sentence "As trans racial adoption becomes more common, here’s what every parent should know". Its very easy to tell that this is a article just reading the first paragraph "Karen Valby is a writer who lives in Austin, Texas. She and her husband, who are white, have two adopted daughters, one Ethiopian and one African- American" . The theme is this article is if you are adopting a kid you should not just think about adopting a kid that is the same race as you. There is One more theme in the article is there is a lot of myths about raising kids of different races or some myth that you will is are not true when you start raising children. One change that she is asking for is that you should raise your kids to see color but they should not treat anyone different just because of the color of there skin“Parents who believe they can raise their child color-blind are making a terrible mistake” . It says that you can't raise your kid to not see color but you can raise them to treat each everyone the same. It really instigate that you should adopted a children from a different race..The color of Water is a great book is a great book. It will make you proud to be a member of the human race. The tone of The Color of Water is uplifting because you can see in the book how how Ruth could not stand racism She couldn’t stand racists of either color” (Chpt. 4, p. 30) and the style is non-formal because they say black man instead of person of color. the tone in the article is mad and she is really try to inform parents because she says some myth about raising children without racism. The style is also very formal because she talks about some problems with raising children of different races. It's been on THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER LIST FOR OVER TWO YEARS. Its only 10 dollars just don't drink coffee from Starbucks for one day and you will be able to afford the book. Bebe Moore cambell say said Jame McBride evokes his childhood trek across the great racial dived with the kind of power and grace that couches and uplifts all heats. You should also read the article because its short but it give some very good information.
