         <description><![CDATA[<div>When the last scene before intermission ends in an especially suspenseful way so the audience will be eager to return for the beginning of the next act.&nbsp;<br>Cliffhanger from Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone:<br>“One minute to go and he’d be eleven. Thirty seconds…twenty…ten…nine – may be he’d wake Dudley up, just to annoy him – three…two…one…<br>BOOM.<br>The whole shack shivered and Harry sat bolt upright, staring at the door. Someone was outside, knocking to come in.”<br>This is a cliffhanger because in makes you want to see who is outside. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An extended speech delivered by one character, heard but not interrupted by by others in their presence. <br>Excerpt from Mark Antony's Monologue in <em>Julius Caesar:</em></div><div><br></div><div><em>Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;<br>I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.<br>The evil that men do lives after them;<br>good is oft interred with their bones;<br>So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus<br>Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:<br>If it were so, it was a grievous fault,<br>And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it.<br>Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest–<br>For Brutus is an honourable man;<br>So are they all, all honourable men–<br>Come I to speak in Caesar's funeral.<br>He was my friend, faithful and just to me:<br>Brutus says he was ambitious;<br>Brutus is an honourable man.<br></em><br>This example works because it is an extended speech delivered by one character, interrupted by nobody. </div>]]></description>
