"Spread Love Club" is a group that consists of 4th-grade students ages 9-10. This group is to assist students who are bullying others. During these group sessions, the students will identify feelings and appropriately express them. They will also understand others' points of view (be empathic). The students will learn how to talk out any conflicts that may arise. Lastly, the student`s will promote developmental interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with peers and adults

In ASCA Student Standards and Mindsets for Student Success describes the knowledge, attitudes, and skills students need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. In the Spread Love Club, the mindsets that will apply include.

M 1. Belief in development of whole self, including a healthy balance of mental, social/emotional and physical well-being. M 2. Sense of acceptance, respect, support and inclusion for self and others in the school environment.

M 3. Positive attitude toward work and learning.

M 4. Self-confidence in ability to succeed.

Behavioral standards that apply within the group include

Screen Process

The only screen process to attend sessions includes a willingness to participate in activities and strategies to put a stop to their bullying. Students that are of course being bullied are also invited to attend sessions at a different time. As per this group, we are focusing on a certain group that seems to be bullying other students in P.E. class.

Before starting any sessions, the counselor will meet with the group of students and given an informed consent form to be signed by the student and parent. The next session, the students will be given an assent form to complete.

1. Confidentiality

Anything said between any two or more group members at any time is part of the group and is confidential.

2. Privacy (The Stop Rule)

No group member is ever required to answer any question, to participate in any activity, or to tell anything.

3. Dignity

No group member is ever humiliated, hazed, or abused in any way. I agree to avoid this destructive behavior.

4. Violence or intimidation

Violence or intimidation toward other group members is never tolerated.

5. Gossip

Gossip and secret grudges can be very destructive in a group. Gossip will not be tolerated.

6.Attendance

Every member from the group is required to attend sessions unless an emergency is to arise.

7.Responsibilities

Every member is to live up to the expectations and always come prepared to scheduled sessions.

Leadership Style

The leadership style for this group will be Participative Leadership (Democratic). Participative leaders encourage group members to participate, but retain the final say in the decision-making process. Group members feel engaged in the process and are more motivated and creative. Democratic leaders tend to make followers feel like they are an important part of the team, which helps foster commitment to the goals of the group.

Group Dynamics

Stage 1 During this stage the students are working to build trust and new relationships. In the first session, the students will engage and build new relationship in the trust walk activity. In this activity, one person is blindfolded and guided by another. It’s a simple yet effective way to build trust and cooperation among group members. Along with this activity, the counselor will also talk about respect and consequences.

Stage 2 During this stage the students work together to achieve group goals.

Stage 3 Ending the group. During this stage the students will collaborate and reflect what they have learned throughout the sessions.

According to the Texas Administrative Code the certified school counselor participates in the development, monitoring, revision, and evaluation of a campus based on The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs that promotes learners' knowledge, skills, motivation, and personal growth. The certified school counselor must:(3) use both preventive and intervening strategies to address the concerns of learners and to help them clarify problems and situations, set goals, explore options, and implement change. In the Spread Love Club, the Yalom`s Therapeutic Factors that will be incorporated will be direct advice. The students will be receiving and giving suggestions for strategies for handling problems in this case bullying.

Publicity

This group of students are selected due to excessive bullying during P.E. The students will first be in formed, then handed a form that allows parents to grant permission to attend. Once this session gets rolling, I will inform the concerned teachers and aids with flyers about all the benefits students will receive during this group counseling.
