A Philosophical Journey into Values, Choices and Contradictions

A meaningful life is shaped by the way we treat other people, the decisions we make, the risks we take and the values we choose to embody. Human by Choice is a philosophical Youth Exchange combining critical thinking, emotional awareness, creativity and embodied learning. Participants will explore some of the oldest and most urgent human questions: Who am I? What do I stand for? What does it mean to live well? How can I remain faithful to my values in a complex and contradictory world?

Human beings are rational, emotional, imaginative, inconsistent, courageous and sometimes completely confused. Critical thinking helps us recognise these contradictions, understand them and decide how to respond to the complexity of a world we cannot simply make disappear.

Each day will begin with a question. Participants will explore it in a safe intercultural space through physical games, cooperation, creativity, improvisation and practical challenges. They will observe how group dynamics influence their choices, how emotions affect their reasoning and how easily assumptions can become invisible rules.

The programme will use Socratic dialogue, empathic listening, personal journaling, theatre and role-play. Participants will experiment with different perspectives and identities, learning that imagination is not an escape from reality, but a tool for understanding and transforming it.

By the end of the exchange, we may not have discovered exactly who we are. But we will have learned to question more honestly, listen more deeply and choose more consciously.

Take Bus n.4 at the exit of the train station and get off at “P.te Marecchia”, then you have to go close to the bridge, take the sidewalk next to the river, take the stairs immediately on the right side that will bring you to the street under the bridge, there you find the hotel, less than 2 minutes walking.

Or 20 minutes walking from train station.

We recommend bringing comfortable clothes for both indoor and outdoor activities, as well as slippers or indoor shoes.

The accommodation will provide bed linen, towels, toiletries and hairdryers.

Then, you need to get to Rimini (there are many trains, website: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html).

From Rimini train station to the facility, you can walk for about 20 minutes, or take a city bus.

Payment agreements:

• No advance payments will be made to partner (sending) organizations, with the exception of participants with few financial opportunities (fewer opportunities, economic obstacles), situation that will be addressed individually.

• Travel costs refunds: all travel costs involved for the arrival of the participants in the hosting location will be reimbursed to the participants / sending organization based on the following documents:

  • Original tickets (or photos/scan) showing price and name of the participants (or partner organization), including boarding pass.

  • Invoice (from the sending organization) or Request for refund (from the participants) signed;

  • The reimbursement will be made into the account provided on the invoice from the sending association, or the Request for refund from the participants, by bank transfer.

• All reimbursements will be made up to the maximum amount approved by the grant, taking into consideration the travel distance band. Any amounts exceeding the grant will be covered by the participant/partner organization (if the case).

• The travel refund will be issued after PiGreco-SEMI receives the completed Participant Report.

Any dietary requirements must be communicated at least 10 days before the beginning of the mobility. Selected participants will be asked to complete a Google Form providing details about their dietary needs and any other relevant information we should know to ensure their well-being throughout the exchange.

Participant Profile:

We are looking for participants aged 18–30 who are interested in critical thinking, philosophy, self-awareness and intercultural learning. They should be open-minded, motivated to take an active part in physical, creative and reflective activities, and willing to share ideas and experiences within an international group. Each country will have five participants, including one group leader aged 40 or under, who should already have experience with the Erasmus+ programme.

Welcome to the Erasmus+ Challenge Walk! In your teams, you’ll explore the city, connect with locals, and reflect on key values like inclusion, sustainability, and intercultural dialogue.

Your Mission:

1. Photo Missions

   • Take a photo that represents inclusion

   • Find something in the city that symbolizes sustainability

   • Capture a moment that shows community or solidarity

2. Talk to a Local

   • Ask (in Italian) someone: “Cosa ti piace di più della tua città?”

   • Learn a new Italian word or expression and write it down

3. Cultural Spotting

   • Find a place or artwork that reflects European identity

   • Spot a space where different generations interact

4. Creative Challenge

   • Write a short slogan or haiku (in any language) about environment, peace, or dialogue

At PiGreco–SEMI di Intercultura APS, he works on the design, coordination and facilitation of educational and youth projects at local and European level. He has contributed to Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges, Training Courses and international mobility projects focused on participation, inclusion, citizenship and intercultural learning.

His approach combines non-formal education, group facilitation, game-based learning and participatory methods, with experience in workshops on digitalisation, disinformation, artificial intelligence, gender equality and responsible use of the web.

Alessandra Zuanetti is a youth worker currently pursuing a Master’s degree in "Design and Management of Educational Interventions in Social Distress" in Bologna.

Committed to regenerative agriculture, she works at “Articoltura”, a community garden team within a social promotion project in Verona, which focuses on sustainable farming and self-production courses.

With some years of experience in agricultural communities, she’s passionate about exploring team dynamics, nonviolent communication and talking circles to coordinate and empower motivated groups.

Each group is invited to bring typical food, snacks or non-alcoholic drinks from its country and to prepare interactive activities such as music, dances, games, stories, traditions or short performances.

Please avoid long or formal presentations.

The aim is to create a lively and participatory evening where everyone can discover, experience and enjoy the different cultures represented in the project.

Participants are encouraged to start preparing their Intercultural Night before the mobility. If support is needed, the facilitators will be available to organise an online meeting with the participants and help each national group develop its ideas and activities.

Groups will also have some time during the mobility to complete their preparation together during free time.
