This can be seen from A, "the American president who effectively ended the CW was Ronald Reagan". Showing that his foreign policy was effective in suppressing Soviet influence in on a global scale.

This can be seen in how B depicts the sky is covered in smoke that represent the Soviet war in Afghanistan,  and a satellite labeled "Star Wars" that represents the American SDI. Along with the sarcastic  ironic statement " Let us look forward to a future with clear skies", which shows that Reagan says the future is peaceful, but the current situation would remain as such, with the US against the USSR. From source A, it says that Ronald Reagan's foreign policies were effective in overpowering the USSR. This is evident from the source, "...a top Soviet strategist revealed ...:"Not only could we not defeat SDI, SDI defeated all our possible countermeasures," and "[Reagan] forced the Soviet Union to abandon its goal of world communism..." This means that Reagan's policies were able to counter completely neutralise any Soviet threat to the point where they were unable to keep up, ultimately leading to disintegration of USSR which ended the Cold War.

Similarly, from source B, it shows that Reagan's foreign policies led to the establish friendlier ties with the USSR This is evident from the source, where there is the presence of the SDI represented by a satellite in the sky, as well as smoke representing the Soviet-Afghan War, clouded the skies. The caption states that in the future, they looked forward to clear skies for all mankind. Additionally, Gorbachev and Reagan in the source, both are holding white papers with their hands reaching towards one another for a handshake, while frowning. This shows that the impact of foreign policies contributed to more negotiations for disarmament, as Gorbachev and Reagan realised that they were destructive.

Similarly, from source B, it shows that Reagan's foreign policies led to the USSR realising that there was a gap between the US and USSR in nuclear power. This can be seen from the source as there is smoke symbolising the Soviet-Afghan War coming from behind Gorbachev, while there is the advanced satellite of the SDI coming from behind Reagan. The contrast between the War and the SDI highlighted and emphasised how large the gap was between the US and USSR, because where the USSR was sinking funds into fighting a derelict war in the Third World, the US was funding scientific research that could potentially break through all offence and defence of the USSR. For Source A, it says that Reagan’s foreign policy pushed USSR to cooperate with USA and end the Cold War. This is evident in Source A which says that the “Reagan Doctrine” resulted in a “Soviet pullout from Afghanistan...... United-Nations monitored elections there.” This shows that aggressive (in terms of money) US intervention in Third World countries led to the withdrawal of Soviet troops, thus contributing to the decline of Soviet influence in the Third World.

However, Source B implies that Reagan’s foreign policy escalated the Cold War and drove the 2 superpowers further apart. This is evident in Source B which shows the large cloud over Afghanistan, showing that US involvement (resulting from Reagan’s foreign policy) escalated the crisis in Afghanistan. The source also has smaller clouds labelled “Central America” and “Mid East” showing conflicts in these areas due to US involvement, thus showing that US intervention in response to Soviet actions in the Third World drove Gorbachev and Reagan from negotiating peace. (Mr Chee: Need to bring in how the dark clouds contradicted Reagan's claims of 'clear skies' that symbolised peace. This goes to show that the SDI is used to counter Soviet involvement in Afghanistan. For Source A, it was written in 2020 when the historian (Avoid such general statements that are unsupported by evidence ==>) had more access to information such as historical archives, and had more time to analyse evidence. This historian was also a member of a conservative institution which would hold synonymous views with Reagan regarding communism and would thus support Reagan’s aggressive anti-communist policies (Requires elaboration, see my comments in my other post for this column). Thus, Source A would portray Reagan’s foreign policy in a positive light due to their shared views.

For Source B, it was written in 1986 during the period in which USA supplied Afghanistan with sophisticated weaponry some of which proved lethal against Soviet helicopters. For Source A, it is an analysis by an American conservative institution’s website. Having the belief in anti-communism and superiority of America, it is expected that the website would publish examples of Reagan’s efforts to roll-back soviet influence during the cold war. Hence, it is true that Reagan did create foreign policies to stop soviet union and escalated the cold war. (Mr Chee: A fair and valid point. Unfortunately, the similar view identified by your group was incorrect. Note here that the end point of escalating the Cold War was to end it but this is not what you said in identifying the similar view.)
For source B, it is a cartoon by a British paper. As a third party they would be commenting on the cold war more objectively and contextual knowledge corroborates the fact that US foreign policies did intervene in countries in such as Afghanistan. For source A, contextual knowledge  confirms that Reagan invested 2 trillion USD for the build-up of conventional and nuclear forces, pushing the US forward in the arms race. Additionally, he sought to support anti-USSR movements in other regions, such as funding 2 billion USD for Mujahideen guerrillas in Afghanistan to fight against USSR occupation forces. This helped accelerate economic decline in the USSR, as the USSR would have to strain their already weakened economy to keep up with US spending. As a result, the USSR was pushed closer to dissolution, thus accelerating the end of the Cold War. 

For source B, contextual knowledge corroborates that the USSR did indeed reduce competition with the US. This is shown in how Gorbachev offered comprehensive concessions to set nuclear disarmament into motion, prepared to cut Soviet strategic weapons by half, however, Reagan rejected Gorbachev’s appeal, since it involved conciliation of the SDI. However, in the end, Gorbachev conceded to the US and discarded mutual agreement on the SDI as a prerequisite for disarmament talks. This hence showed the USSR realisation that it was unable to compete with the US, and that continuing the arms race would further cripple the USSR economy. This ultimately led to the disintegration of the USSR, since its economy was still unable to lift back up despite reduced competition with the US in terms of the arms race, hence ending the Cold War.
