Every day, we hear news of how our environment is slowly deteriorating and negatively affecting the everyday lives of Filipinos. The Philippines, despite being a hotspot for biodiversity due to its archipelagic nature and geographical position in the equator, is slowly depleting due to multiple environmental issues, one of which being the Kaliwa Dam project, which, despite its benefits when it comes to solving water shortage, has displaced many of the locals and has threatened the ecological balance of the biodiversity. Many more projects that harm the environment occur which is left unheard. As such we are called upon, as the youth, to act upon addressing these relevant environmental issues. Some of the ways we can be of help are being a VOLUNTEER in your local community in dealing with our environment. Be ACTIVE in petitions especially since there are a number of petitions circulating online. Endorse GREEN Commute such as sustainable traveling, tourism, walking, biking, and much more. And lastly, VOTE for a Leader this May 2022 elections who acknowledges the environmental issue and prioritizes it in his/her platforms. Ro, talked about the impact of social media in today's day and age. In his talk, Fr. Ro talked about what social media is, how much time we spent on social media, and its various pros and cons. To relate with the theme of social media, the group agreed to design our infographic based on the interface of one of the top-used social media apps: YouTube. With this, the thumbnail of each "video" consists of photos that relate to relevant points from the discussion. The first box shows a picture of the group with their phones and this section discusses what social media is and the statistics relating to it. Then the second box shows our speaker, Fr. Ro, discussing how to best use social media and some of the dangers we may face when using it.

Fr. Ro mentioned The First Principle and Foundation by St. Ignatius which tells us the purpose of our life in God and how we're supposed to live it. This points out that our goal and purpose in life is a union with God. Thus, all of God's creations are made to help us, people, to achieve our purpose.

The majority of the population has had tried, at least one way or another, using such platforms. Our speaker, Fr. Ro has made mention about the effects of social media not only to ourselves, but also to our relationships with other people. While social media aims to bring people closer through easy communication despite their physical distance, it has consequently driven people away from each other instead because most of them unknowingly spends more time on screen than actually spending quality time with the people they’re with. Fr. Ro even talked about a scenario that most of us could certainly relate to: meeting or physically being with friends and/or families but everyone is so busy using their phones instead of seizing the moment that they’re together. Our infographic encapsulates everything that was tackled in the talk, stemming from what social media is, its advantages and disadvantages, how to become responsible social media users, and what to consider before posting anything online (THINK before you CLICK). Social media, among all things, is one of the tools that we should utilize to make this world a better place. It is a powerful tool to be a means for us to achieve our deepest purpose in our life: to become advocates for good.

This is an immemorial quote that applies to our current global leaders, especially in the Philippines. Politician leaders are expected to willingly serve its people and observe good governance. However, over the past couple of years, we saw how (populist) leaders like Rodrigo Duterte weaponized their power as a means to subjugate its people from exercising basic human rights, which is very synonymous to the ideals possessed by the late dictator, Ferdinand Marcos.

Martial Law has undoubtedly impacted the Filipinos due to its inhumane acts of killings, torture, rape amongst women, and etc. However, Marcos apologists and loyalists still exist all over the country which stems from the very problem that was discussed by Rev. Ed Colmenares, SJ. - Historical Revisionism.

Historical Revisionism refers to the reinterpretation of past events to fit a specific narrative, whether in a positive or negative light (Bulatlat, 2020).  In the context of Martial Law, revising our dark history downplays the experience of the victims and perpetuate an ignorant mindset. As comparison,  Germany strongly opposes anyone who supports Hitler or the Nazis, and will face serious legal repercussions for that matter. Why can't Philippines do the same? Or have we indeed forgotten the sins of the past?

The education system plays a significant role in historical revisionism. The speaker explained that whoever will be the next President of the Philippines can change the course of its history. The DepED also lacks budget for promoting this subject.

As mentioned earlier, "With great power comes with great responsibility." But, the inverse of that is also true. "With great responsibility comes with great power." This upcoming election remind us that Filipino citizens have the responsibility to vote wisely because we will bare the brunt force of the government's actions. We had power to bring great improvements to the Philippines.
