I haven't used Kahoot, but am a big fan of Poll Everywhere. Haven't had technical issues with it, although it does work better if you are on a computer where you have the PowerPoint add-in installed.

I'm a big fan of mentimeter, similar to Kahoot /Poll Everywhere, as it allows open-ended questions, and 'post-it' answers such as Padlet, as well as survey-type questions. Quite easy to administer, too!

I've used Kahoot in the past, I've found it works well with smaller groups; however, if users find issues logging in then lots of time can be spent looking after the admin. As with many of these platforms, there are now levels of membership that require a subscription: however Kahoot is still offered free to school teachers - I wonder whether this applies to universities?

Padlet itself now has a pricing structure to contend with: it would be good if there was a budget to allow us to subscribe to some of these platforms if we are able to make a good usage case.

There are alternatives to Padlet now that that it is essentially a paid for service, none of them have the same levels of functionality though:

Also worth considering is LibWizard (part of the Springshare suite - LibGuides, LibCal etc.) Barbara at the IOE has used this for session evaluations and quizzes

I found out that it's not possible to customise the music for Kahoot and although there are a few limits to what this free software can offer, I found the site's support team very quick to respond when I had questions, so we might see it developing quickly. I also felt that it's more appropriate for school children although maybe I'm influenced by the website images!

I think it's easy to over-do PollEv. Some of the groups I have worked with were a bit fatigued by it since it's a bit ubiquitous in some settings

The problem I've noticed with Padlet is that some people take a long time to note the url if you have it displayed on the projector, so if you then want to display the padlet, there are always some people who haven't got the url right and you need to keep switching back and forth.....

I've only had Kahoot training but have not used it since. I am aware of Poll Everywhere and Mentimeter and have occasionally experimented with these in my sessions. I've been involved in sessions for DIS/School of Management and they use sli.do for students to post questions throughout a session which are then answered at the end. It's a really good tool. I agree with the other comment on here - it would be useful for UCL Library Services to subscribe to some of these platforms for us to use them. I think DIS pay for a departmental subscription to sli.do Thanks for alerting me to Plickers at EE - haven't come across that one before!
