Hello! I am Johnny Terán, I agree with Deniss (2008), that interest and motivation had a big factor in comprehension with my Ss as ELL, so I gave them short texts about topics that they like and felt interested in, like reading for pleasure, trying with lower anxiety, the background before the reading was a good help for them because they know something about these topics or feel interested. In addition, the text structure improvement helped them organize the ideas with graphic organizers and signal words/phrases.

I am not a professor , but when I studied English I have a good experience in reading skills because must of my professors teaches us with the topics we liked and reading the magazines. When I started to work I must to be close with EFL due I must to learn occupational reading and some terms were different to me , some technical words in my laboral environment .

When I teach activities for reading comprehension I introduce the text with the unknown words for the students, then they recognize the learned words for understanding the ideas, because if they don't know the vocabulary it's very difficult undestanding the words, sentences or some text. In general, they like to read short stories.

Hi, I am Galito Ruiz. When I want my students to read, I´ve been successful because I make them bring what they want to read, what they are interested in,for instance,I have some students that like much D.C.comics, and they read to understand this series.

How to teach reading in my personal opinion is making read waht they want, when they do this, after that, they can create a summary of what they read, and can explain to me something about the reading.

Something that affects reading is when we as teachers,bring some material that could be boring to them.

I'm a person who likes reading, even in Spanish or English.

I remember, when I was a student I enjoy reading books or articles, I think the institution choose a right ones according our ages, all of then was interesting, and during the class the teachers ask us something about the reading activity or make a summarize.

Another way to me, for a myself practicing reading and listening is with song lyrics, I practice or read with subtitles and later without. So I think that could be a good idea to teach.

I'm not a english teacher, so, thats my experience like a student, but I considerer that is important to read anything to practice probably a gossip about international entertainment could help too. Johanna García

Firstable I didn't like the english language when I was a kid because I thought that It was so difficult to learn other language for me, but my mother always said me that I have to learn other language, and I was in an english course that It was really interesting the methodology was innovated for me. There I acquire the linstening and reading skills by playing with new words, for that reason in my planning I include this kind of metholody, as a result my students try to read and analyze the texts in classess, I had always beleive that If we have critical learners we can improve with other skills too.

Hi! I'm an English with over a year of experience and I have encountered many difficulties when teaching reading. At first, I used to follow the coursebook activities going from general to specific. However, my students didn't show any kind of interest in reading. Later on, I started using different reading activities to have my students engage when reading. For example, I started using the jigsaw reading technique in which texts are divided and given to students in different groups. These strategies seemed to work as it increased cooperation and speaking. Likewise, it improves students' critical thinking skills. Over this time, I have tried many reading techniques to raise students' motivation when reading. I suggest you all use a variety of techniques when teaching receptive skills that might seem boring, but they can be engaging.

Hello teacher and classmates . I am Mirian Jumbo. After finishing the collegue. I have worked as a teacher in a secundary for teenagers and adults that for any reason does not finish their studies. Firstly was a challenge with the poplulation and coworkers but finally I feel able to face this problematic. The principal of my school was the person who helps me to improve my teaching skills. With the time I have adquired knowledge and experience that I share with my students. I feel comfortable in my job, I try to create a ggod environment with my students and parteners that I feel proud when a student gets a goal in his or her life but I am sure thet to be a teacher is the best choise of my life and we never finish our learning
