In 2020, a new Math curriculum has been released (linked above).

Students will be learning to explore math in real life through worksheets and experiments. Students will also be exploring  the value of money and how to use it to purchase items.

When appropriate, students will be given worksheets from the workbook of previous years if it aligns with the new curriculum. We will also be using worksheets from various websites, IXL, manipulatives, and math games on the internet when appropriate.

This year, students will get the chance to learn more ideas about coding and use a very beneficial website for coding named 'Kodable'. Click here to check this website.

Students will be learning about the four strands which include (click here for the curriculum):

• Growth and Changes in Animals

• Simple Machines and Movement

• Properties of Liquids and Solids

• Air and Water in the Environment

All with a focus of STEM skills and connections in sha'a Allah.

Currently, we are learning about growth and changes in animals. Students are now able to identify which category an animal belongs to. 

For science, we will be using one science textbooks per strand in which the worksheets are provided to go along with each lesson. We will also be using a multitude of websites to obtain interactive science worksheets for students to cut, colour, and draw while learning. In addition, we will also be watching many educational science videos in class, followed with guided discussions.

Throughout the year, we will be using a textbook per strand when needed, as well as worksheets to go along with it. These worksheets will be collected from various websites. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their learning through various projects, as well as written and oral assignments.

Currently, we are focusing on identifying different parts of stories. Afterwards we will work on building sentence structure and up to writing paragraphs with a focus on grammar.

Throughout the year, we will be using various resources including spelling books, IXL, Raz-Kids, journal writing, and worksheets from various websites.

We will be using the "I love Islam 2" book as well as the worksheets to go with it. Students will be mainly evaluated based on participation as well as oral and written evaluations. 

In grade 2, students will learn the  skills and knowledge they need to lead a healthy and active life style. They will also learn to make healthy and safe choices through the five strands in the curriculum.

.I am  also working on a master degree in education. I used to be a teacher mentor with Ottawa U. I have an AIM certification (please click here)  AIM and a degree in marketing management.

Taught French as a first language and a second language for many years as a homeroom ad as a subject teacher  using varied instructional strategies.

I am also a principal of a weekend Arabic\Quran school . I have a long experience with community service as a member  of the board and as a  head kid committee. I led around a group of kids through a rich  schedule of interesting  curricular and extracurricular events.

Assessment:

Oral communication (listening and speaking) remains a priority in Core French across all grades at the elementary level, JK-Gr.3 to ensure the continued focus on oral communication and language acquisition at the primary level, a gradual increase in the reporting of all four strands

Students will be assessed on their ability to:

•  learn the words in this unit;

•  use French spontaneously, both with the teacher and with peers;

•  pronounce words correctly;

•  answer questions based on the story;

•  memorize the play;

•  perform the play;

•  listen well;

•  cooperate with peers while working with a partner;

•  participate with enthusiasm;

•  complete work on time;

•  stay focused and productive in class.

These assessments come in many types, such as written work, portfolios, grading, tests, quizzes, and project-based assignments.

My name is Salam Beseiso and it is my pleasure to be teaching Quran to your child this school year. I am looking forward to getting to know your child and helping them succeed in their education, Inshallah. 

Our main goal for Quran is to enhance the student’s engagement and increase their desire to learn, recite and memorize surahs with the appropriate Tajweed for their level.

We are starting with surat El Bayyna and reviewing the first and second lesson from El Noranyyah.

The Quran homework will be once per week, and the student will be assessed continuously on memorizing Quran with tajweed.

This year, students will be able to expresses themselves artistically with the art they will create using a multitude of materials and techniques. Click here to find the art curriculum.

Art will also be embedded into all other subjects through various projects giving each subject a little twist of fun. 

My educational background is related to Electronics and Communication Engineering. However, I find myself a good caliber among teachers. The reason is that I took part in many certified teaching workshops in Ontario. Also, I have been teaching for a long time. Since I started as a teacher, in 2016, I have worked for three different school boards in Quebec and Ontario. I am dedicated to enriching my students with the Islamic culture while giving them language and social skills they will use throughout their

lives, I am passionate about helping students learn and grow. I have a strong background in teaching

methodology and I believe that every child has the potential to succeed when provided with the right tools and

support.

As your child's teacher, I am eager to get to know them more, understand their unique strengths, interests, and

learning styles. I will work closely with them to ensure that they are able to continue making progress in their

studies and achieve their academic goals.

I understand that communication is key to a successful parent teacher relationship, and I encourage you to reach
