The idea of having "I can" statements on the board, along with being in their notebooks show the students what the learning goal is before they even begin. Students are able to enjoy social interaction while they are learning new concepts and practicing previously taught ideas. It is so important to have them use problem solving skills and group work skills in the real world. The group work that goes along with INBs supports all of this! Students are also able to stay engaged in hands-on activities so they are not bored in the classroom. The students spent so much time cutting and gluing, that so much time was lost! We have found that having sheets pre-cut is a way to avoid this. But, with that being said, cutting and gluing is a real-life skill that needs to be practiced in order for mastery to occur.
