As I read "A Writer is a Somebody for Whom Writing Is More Difficult Than It Is for Other People," it gave me the inspiration I was looking for in regards to Project 3. The writer of this project drew from a few ideas I am addressing in my own project, so it was nice to see how someone else did it as well. One of topics Student 1 brings up is how we all have our own ideals about what is a good writer. Through college my idea of what a good writer is has varied from class to class.

"All I am certain is that every time time I try to gain authority in a new discourse community, there will be backlash." I like how she made this connections between her discourse and her goals as a teacher. She uses her ability to learn in the past as optimism for gaining authority in the future.

I really like the way the author of my sample created his wring as if he were looking into a crystal ball. As I was reading, I began to wonder if I could write my project 3 as letter to my current self, in the perspective of my future self. I also really enjoyed how naturally it flowed from narrative into the sources he provides.

We talked about how we could write in a way to flow the themes of past, present and future in a way that wouldn't seem forced. We thought that the best way to do this would be through a more creative way, like a letter to yourself as opposed to and essay.

The author of our sample paper wrote as if he were already a teacher and was looking back on his past writing experiences, and he incorporated them into his position as a teacher. He also uses a lot of sources to describe sponsors and discourse communities.

My group found that the writer of "Application of this Course on My Current and Future Discourse Communities" utilized the textbook to demonstrate which concepts he will use outside of class. The author also used his current job as an example as to how he has already applied the course material to his life.

Alannah
The article for Student 2 felt forced. I think it would have been better executed if they had done a self reflective essay or something along those lines. They did a good job showing how their past, present, and future academic relationships with writing all connected and built off each other.

I could relate to the example used from my reading, in that they used a previous writing project about 19th century American literature and understanding the rhetoric to connect to the concepts of the story for their assignment. It is something that I can personally relate to when thinking about my Project 2, and I use that experience as an example in my reflection.
