It is argued that we as architects create our urban existence and in turn our cities create us, it’s a cyclical and symbiotic relationship. The nature of our cities create who we become.
Urban Generosity is an exploration of how we can develop a series of architectonic outcomes to encourage civic surplus.

The studio commenced through the observation of the local and defined the architectural nature of the place in which the architectural outcome is housed,  becoming a process of discovery, in how architecture can extend beyond an object/place paradigm, into a place of civic surplus.

The studio outcomes developed a body of work that explored the opportunities architecture and its context can give and be given, by the immediate community it inhabits, exploring the development of how life and form are intrinsically linked.

Investigating Biophilic Design, the studio explored  how architecture develops a connection to nature and the impact this has on our physiological well being and sustainable world.  

It could be argued that how Fitzroy got to its bohemian culture today was made possible by its cheap affordability that was made possible by its original working-class population that immigrants soon after filled.  Throughout Fitzroys history different communities have come and gone through the space bringing with them a range of cultures that have shaped into today’s culture. Fitzroy is no longer the affordable place it once was, which allowed it filled with a multitude of culture although today Fitzroy is still quite a culturally engaged place filled with street art, many bars and restaurants line its main road. The aim of the project is to provide affordable housing for immigrants moving to Australia, in an attempt to spark some new culture into the area continuing Fitzroy’s diverse cultural exchange resist its slow development into a gentrified state.
