The First Crusade

* The Crusade affected what is now Spain, Israel, and the Holy Roman Empire
* This event was significant because it included the claiming of Jerusalem. It created many other Crusader states and it showed the world how powerful these nations were. It also (temporarily) halted the expansion of Islam.

Spanish Reconquista

* The Reconquista significantly decreased the population in three major Muslim cities. They were the three main cities of the Moorish Caliphate which were Granada, Cordoba, and Seville. That population was then replaced by Christians.

Spanish Inquisition

* The Spanish Inquisition solidified the power of the Spanish monarchy. It spread to mass suffering and death. Hundreds of thousands of Spanish Jews, Muslims, and Protestants were forcibly converted, expelled from Spain, or executed.

Founding of Islam

* This is important because it is now a major religion. Without this event, the Muslim religion would not exist. Muhammad was the founder of the religion, and if he was not born, he would not have had any sort of influence on the world. Creation of Israel

* The British owned the land that is now Israel. They, on May 14th, lowered their flag. That land became what is now Israel. Without this event, that land would most likely still be under British control, with their way of government and ruling.

Ending of the Apartheid

* Plastic was (and still is) used throughout the whole world in many different goods. It is lightweight, easy to mold, waterproof, strong, and easy to produce. However, this plastic is fully man made and is bad for the environment. Around 158,943,925 tonnes of plastic waste will be created in 2023 alone.

Columbus discovers America

* This loss allowed for Xerxes' passage further into Southern Greece, and it expanded the Persian empire. This event is now use das an example of heroic persistence, showing that you can still win when the odds are against you.

Battle of Somme

* This battle was important because it laid the foundations for many advanced battle techniques to be used in later wars. It also made the German army stationed near the Somme to retreat.

Nagasaki Bombing

* This was important because it signified the new nuclear warfare. It showed the new technology the U.S. had, and how willing they were to use it. This bombing shocked the whole world. Along with the bombing of Hiroshima, the bombings killed somewhere between 129,000 and 226,000 people. This was the only usage of nuclear weapons in WWI, and most of whom it killed were civilians. Some people suffered defects from the radiation.
