Intentional teachers teach with purpose. They set goals for themselves and their students and create realistic steps, personalized to the needs of their students in order to achieve those goals. They realize that all students learn differently and need various ways to receive information and apply concepts in order to accomplish academic goals.
Intentional teachers are also continuously learning. They are open-minded to new ideas and teaching strategies. Intentional teachers seek to find new ways to present information, and improve lessons. They attend workshops in order to grow as teachers, and maintain a growth, non fixed, mindset. This helps teachers to be continuously updated on new teaching methods which helps them give their students various ways to reach goals.
-Shanna Pentz
https://work.chron.com/characteristics-intentional-teachers-10173.html

Intentional teachers work and communicate with colleagues. Talking with colleagues can help a teacher gain understanding on something that they quite don't know how to teach. Or to get help teaching a topic in a new way. By communicating with other teachers you can share ideas and get feed back. Asking for help expands your education and knowledge to become a better teacher for your students.
-Hannah Weber
Robert Slavin: Educational Psychology: Theory and Practice

Intentional teachers find ways to reach their students to keep them actively involved in lessons. This is one reason why continuing education is so important. There is always more to learn and new things to try in your class. Willingness to grow as a teacher and a professional are characteristics of an intentional teacher. An intentional teacher does not do things simply because that is what has always been done.

- Carrie Cotter

Intentional & Patient Teachers

There is a professor at Dixie State University who comes to mind when I think of an Intentional Teacher. He is on time and he is focused. I appreciate this in him. I appreciate the strong sense of not wasting a minute of time and allow his students to get to work on their math. He is encouraging, positive and kind. Never have I heard him say an unkind word, but remains focus and positive - encouraging his students to "keep trying" in this math course which can be quite distressing.
So, I cannot see Intentional without patience, these characteristics work as a team in helping students to achieve their goals.

~Tondrea Jackson
