In what ways has your protagonist changed and evolved?

At the beginning of the novel Violet was a rule follower, she did everything she was supposed to do. As you read further in the novel she became someone who doesn't follow protocol. She's someone who doesn't do dangerous stuff. You wouldn't see her going out with friends doing stupid things she's not supposed to. About half way through the book Violet goes down to Old Earth breaking protocol and comes back up with bruises on her body.

P.176 "It's an errand for my dad." Violet cringed inward at the lie, but it was for the greater good. Right? And nobody said no to Ogden Crowley."

What social commentary do you think your author was making with this novel? What is the author saying or warning about today's world?
I think the author is trying to tells us that you can't change the world, that we need to deal with the problems our selves instead of pushing them aside. That's not going to fix anything. I feel like she is trying to get out that if we had a new start it would fall back to where it was because those problems would start again because we don't know how to solve them. The reason we don't know how to solve them is because we pushed them off.
P.227
Crowley - "You agree with me, yes? We need to build a new Earth?"
Lucretia - She laughs. "Absolutely not!" Shaking her head. "We need to stay right here and deal with our problems - not peel off the top layer of people and go somewhere else and start over. I think you are one hundred percent wrong!"

In what ways do the common ideas effect your characters choices or actions? Violet want to go down to Old Earth but if they catch her she will be kicked off the protocol team and will be in deep trouble. The problem is that she doesn't know her way around Old Earth. She has to do everything by herself so that no one knows. Only one person knows and that is Sara. If she has someone 🤬 the switch on the outside of the pod it will send a signal to the authorities. That's why she needs to do it from the inside.
P.176 "Listen Sara, I know this is a huge favor. The setting is Old Earth where they all used to live. It is now where the poor and naughty people live. Its got a retched sent, it doesn't tell that it does but i get an idea of it because there is not much food and water on Old Earth. With no food or water people can't shower or get their nutrients they need to stay healthy. The other people live on New Earth with fancy technology and advanced things. New Earth is mainly an upgraded Old Earth times 10.
pg. 22 "It isn't right that their last memory of Molly is wreathed in a disgusting, vomit-calling smell, an abomination that's like the mingling of dog 🤬 and cat 🤬 and rotten fruit and moldy basement and a shotgun of farts."
I chose this because it gives you an idea of what people smell like and have to go trough.
