         <description><![CDATA[<div>I agree with all areas analyzed by Alicia, Erika and Tomislav.
<br> The words heard are all true. I think that the first step to becoming an intercultural teacher is to be open to others as stated by Erika.
<br>
<br>A teacher, who is aware of his own culture, is able to open up to people of other cultures. A competent teacher is attentive to diversity and the cultural background of the students, such as cultural festivals (Alicia). On the other hand the 5 Areas expressed by Tomislav (reports of involvement of community-identity-parent language-pedagogical and social) are the best attitude of a responsible cultural teacher. Often it is known that working on public relations in the community is difficult. It is not easy to engage and collaborate with a work environment that is not ready to listen, to hear others. You ask me what my biggest challenge? To go forward every day with my views, my work with the other.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I teach in a secondary school and my students are between 11 and 14. They are overall from Italy but there are&nbsp; some of them coming&nbsp; from North Africa and East Europe. They are usually well integrated each others, we use to mix the students so the italians are usually Tutors of the Foreign students. The school offers also some potential courses so they can&nbsp; learn&nbsp; some basical instruments to speak, read and write Italian.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I found these videos about multilinguality very interesting and inspiring for my approach to different students and languages at school. I have some students coming from North Africa and East Europe who do not speak other languages than French and Russian (sometimes they use some English words). This fact caused problems to teachers. I know some French words and &nbsp; English so I have so often helped these students to understand the language of instructions enabling them to carry out their assignements and to be successful in their school activities. It is also important to embrace their mother tongue but at the same time as they are attending a school in Italy they have to face the fact that learning the language of the host country is important for their fully growth as individuals. Multilinguality is the key to face the challenges of this century both at a cultural and working level so having staff members at school speaking a variety of languages is now a great opportunity to enhance and encourage students to interact among them in several languages, when different cultures cohesist then different languages must too</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In my classes the students have something like a sense of identity, but I often have to face divisions, which are not necessarily due to etnic or linguistic differences. When I work with students I always try to create the sense of a common goal to reach, so as to make them collaborate without any prejudice. My colleagues work with me and share my point of view generally speaking. But it is hard to work in a city in which different kinds of prejudices (not necessarily involving the identity issue) have been strongly rooted over the years. It is truly hard to overcome these difficulties and give them a sense of union with the "different" when they are not capable of getting on well with their "neighbour".</div>]]></description>
