I really enjoyed seeing a female social studies teacher since I have always been coached or observed male social studies teachers. It was really nice to see strategies in the classroom that I have never seen before. Ms. Leveretter definitely holds high expectations for her learners and it is clear from the start of class. Students do not get away with anything in her class so the biggest thing I am pulling away from this observation is her classroom management skills. I am impressed with how well her classroom transitions and operates.

I saw multiple things in Mr. Lowther's class I want to bring back and implement into my classroom. He mentioned some explicit ways to tie in some teachable moments with the students to teach life lessons and help with some management aspects. (Example: That is a valid question, and I want to answer it, but in order to get to what we need to get through today we will need to come back to that.) I also loved how he has he class do Quizizz as a team. He offered them a treat if the class reached 80% accuracy, and they needed to stay quiet in order to continue playing the game. It was a great way to increase buy-in and help the students study for an upcoming test!

Ms. Davis does an outstanding job blending different instructional strategies in her classroom. The class was well organized and the students were always on task. Ms. Davis lead the class through a google document she had created on Imperialism. The students eagerly filled in the ¨missing pieces¨ as she conducted the mini lecture. I plan on using this is my classroom later this week.
