Even before I watched it I knew that there will be a female gaze however I was quite socked at the humanity shown in it. It is really hard to describe the feeling this film creates because it is a feeling based on senses. We feel in a very intimate yet non invasive way the feelings and thoughts of Janet. We follow her thoughts through the people she is watching, the scenes unfolding in front of her, the touch and excitement whenever she encounters something she likes and the walls when she is in complete despair. There are some times where the censorship helps create new ways to tell a story or to create a movement that opposes the censorship. In either way great films come out. However it has also impact in a negative way some genres like horror. I was also shocked to learn that a lot of the films where produced with the help of foreign countries. Romance, horror, critics on society and gore films were made all over the place. The interesting part is how South Korea cinema shares several characteristics to Hollywood like the star system. The great discovery was finding out that this whole hybridizations of the genres was develop way before the new wave started and has continued to develop in the next years. I once made an analysis on Parasites d I research this whole thing about mixing genres.
