Background: On June 10, 1838, the Myall Creek Massacre took place in New South Wales. 28 unarmed Wirrayaraay people, a Kamilaroi subgroup, were ruthlessly murdered by a group of 11 white settlers. During colonialism, the slaughter was a part of a wider pattern of brutality against Indigenous Australians.
