Why Teach

When I made the decision to stop practicing as a therapist and begin a teaching career my colleagues all had 1 question; "Why would you want to teach?" The short answer is you cant buy time. Our decision to adopt was because we could and we believed that if we could that we should. I decided that I should not be paying others to now raise the child we adopted. I needed to be on his schedule and that is school based. School where therapy jobs are few and special education teachers are fewer. No matter how great the challenge at the end of the day I can do both be a mom and teach!

I am supposed to make a difference in the life of special needs children, as a teacher with a therapy degree or as a therapist with a teaching degree. Once I have both titles I have a life goal of using them both.......Maybe entrepreneur will be my next title!!
