I think your poster is great I like the way you have set out the poster the headings make it very easy to follow. The implementation of technology is definitely an interesting topic , it is a very big project to implement as I have been part of similar project in my workplace when we moved from paper based documentation to computer based. In particular resistance to change is considered to be a major issue in relation to change management and it can have negative effects on staff turnover, patient care and organisational budget if not managed correctly. The leadership team must ensure that the change process is managed efficiently and monitored closely. All key stakeholders must be on board with the change.

Referencing

Allen, B.
Good Morning DF group 12. I admire all your work especially as it looks like your group only had three members. This poster is very similar to my groups (DF10) as we both are talking about developing new technology for computer programs/electronic medical records in healthcare. Under ‘Possible outcomes’ the negative part you have, ‘not everyone will accept the change or participate in the process.’ How do you think that workplaces can combat this? What specific education and training? Role modelling by the leadership team? etc. This poster is very easy to read and follow, I like how you have divided it into different sections as this makes it more eye catching (Berg & Hicks, 2017). Regards, Samantha McIndoe 26/09/17 Reference Berg, J. and Hicks, R. (2017). Successful design and delivery of a professional poster. I personally like the topic you have chosen for your presentation. you have given all the relevant informations on the challenges, outcomes and strategies in implementing the computer system in the healthcare setting. I liked the part where you discussed about the positive outcomes of the computer system in hospital settings. Implementing computer systems in the healthcare setting has brought positive changes in the clinical processes such as reduction in the cost of the tests, less medication errors, improved and easy access to patient information and hence resulting in the improved patient care (David F. D, David W. B & Brent C. J, 2003).
Reference:

David F. Doolan, David W. Bates & Brent C.
Dear DF 12I found reading your poster engaging as it considers variable of change; both challenges and positive potential outcomes. An important point that was made is the link that details of change should be accessible to everyone. This will be a learning point for me for future change. This can often be forgotten especially for staff who work night duty. How best to communicate and engage staff who do not work within office hours when often change management is started.White on blue was easy to read. Graphic picture were modern and realistic.Kind regardsMary Jane26/09/2017

I read you poster with ease and it's clarity and clear expression made the information instantly understandable. I am able to relate to this planned change through experience and found that your poster addressed the topic and was an accurate summary of leadership strategies. When reflecting on it the second time I considered the order of the strategies listed down the centre of the poster. I am inclined to read them in order of importance when they are listed under each other. Was this the intention of the authors? If so, I would propose that communication and collaboration (or as you said it negotiate and agree) would sit higher on the list. I liked very much that evaluation was at the end.

Returning to the aesthetics of the poster, I find the blue visually appealing. There is a cleanliness and honestly to it that suits health care to a tee.

Thanks Group 12, I enjoyed looking at it.

Kind regards, Bec.

Well done on your poster Shannon, Shaodi and Michelle!

Your poster content is clear, concise and the use of images attracts the reader. The images also support the content and help convey the key messages, recognised as a key strategy for health literacy (Australian Commission on Quality and Safety in Healthcare, 2017).

I was also involved with the implementation of a new database (menu management system) and I was particularly interested in the strategies section of your poster, which includes job stress counselling. A clear communication strategy to influence and inspire others to achieve a common goal (Northouse, 2016), and involving those affected by the change, were two key strategies implemented within my workplace. However, job stress counselling, which was not considered, may have also reduced resistance to change. Particularly in long standing staff members, where fear of losing of control, or refusal to give up old habits and familiar work duties (Hon, Bloom & Crant, 2014) was evident.

Rebekah Anderson 27/09/17

References
Australian Commission on Quality and Safety in Healthcare (2017). Tool and resources for healthcare organisations.

Your poster is very straight forward and easy to understand.
The topic of choice is really interesting as it focuses on use of technology to ensure better functioning of the health sector. It also emphasises on the role of a leader or a manager to ensure that the change is adopted successfully. I really like how you had clearly mentioned various strategies to ensure a successful program and also the difficulties involved. The points mentioned in the strategies were explained in simple terms and so it was really easy to comprehend. i agree that overcoming a the challenge successfully is essential for its smooth running. This poster surely captures the readers interest.

On a different note, your choice of colour (blue) is very pleasing to the eye and the images used surely make it a good poster.

(P.S This poster surely will be my 'to go to' place for future reference)

Kind regards
Merlin George Valachira
(S00217114
29/09/17

Good work, DF12. Clearly set out and well covered content, also topical as we do seem to have to contend with changes to technology on a regular basis (this holds for university environments as well as in health care!). Good point by Rebekah about health literacy and this could be one aspect that you 'pick up' on in your final analytical paper. However, there is quite a bit of content there for further analysis, for example, the challenges that you identify could be analysed in more depth, as could the legal and ethical considerations. While you identify possible outcomes and also the need for continuous monitoring and gathering feedback, these aspects also lean towards further analysis. For example, at what point would you consider that a new computer program has been successfully implemented and what will you do if it hasn't? What will you do if it has - for example, how will you communicate that outcome to the staff and why?

Having recently had a computer system implemented in my workplace, and what was experienced is very similar to what has been summarized in your poster. The only thing I would note is that the education process is very much ongoing, the computer system as things are identified as missing, and it is much easier to learn to use the system when you are using it as intended as opposed to in education sessions before implementation.
Jac Power
2/10/1

Technology is becoming an integral part of an individual life and healthcare organisations are also embracing it slowly. However, staff are slow to accept it due to majority number of people in workforce are elderly and prefer paper based system. Although technology can make life easier as it is a convenient way to keep track of patients health records, managing illnesses, developing care plans to name fee. Educating staff about the benefits of it is a key part in promoting or accepting the technology in health care industry. The organization I work for has gone through a similar change recently and results are outstanding. We save time in doing documentations and administering medications. It is time convenient and enable staff to spend more time in providing care to residents. Senior staff members were resistive to change at start but they seem to embrace it slowly.

Reference:
Mytton, T. O., Velazquez, A., Banken, R., Mathew, L. J, Ikonen, S. I don’t have a student listed by that name. If you have changed your name since the commencement of semester please let me know otherwise you may miss out on receiving any marks!
Comprehensive content but a little too wordy. The linkage between implementing computer systems and anti-discriminatory laws and codes was not quite clear. The poster was well set out – well balanced in appearance and the middle section was appealing although white headings tended to become a little ‘lost’ in the background. A few too many references, three or four key references would have reduced this section which was a little large. Well done.
In regard to marks for peer review, those who scored higher on peer review did so because their peer review comments made a scholarly contribution to the poster content and was relevant to leadership issues within a health care environment. Students with higher marks on peer review tended to write comments that were designed to support the improvement of the other group’s work (scholarly contribution) rather than provide general commentary on what they liked about the poster. Commentary that was brief without strong evidence of constructive feedback did not attract high marks.
Katya and Sue 031017
