Valdka Meed's experience in the "Zuknft"

The "Zuknft" is the youth organization of the S.C., a strong Jewish socialist- democratic party, founded in 1897. Vladka was just a teenager when the German invasion in Poland began in September of 1939. She went to a Yiddish grammar-based school while also learning Polish, which was to her advantage. When she was assigned outside the ghetto in Argan, she changed her name from Feigele Petel to Vladka Meed, because of her Argan appearance. Because of her fluency in Polish, she was successful in the underground courier. She could smuggle weapons across the wall to the Jewish fighting organization. She also helped Jewish children escape from the ghetto to be sheltered in homes, as well as assisted Jews who were hiding in the city, and contacted those who were in labor camps.
