A part of our professional reading that I found interesting this week was that some people feel that folk tales and fairy tales are not valuable literature. As we saw in the presentation there is much that students can learn from folktales and fairy tales such as morales, right and wrong, and also look at descriptive illustrations. I like the mention of Steven Kellogg as I find him to be a very good children's book author. His books are interesting and his pictures are vivid and lively. He seems to have a certain look to all of the his illustrations that is his signature.
