They think that every action of theirs is being scrutinized by others. They then think that every response or non response by other people around them is because they did something wrong.


For example if they are not invited to lunch they will think they are disliked for some reason. They also cannot easily control these distressing thoughts so it's not helpful to tell them "just be brave" or etc.

At the heart of it, there could be other issues going on.


    As a teacher it becomes hard as u always talk about excellence and pushing excellence. But you have to remain cognisant of many of these students and celebrate the small victories.


    Alas it takes a village.
