It required a lot of skill and practice to use effectively, especially for complex calculations. Mistakes were easy to make, and if you made one, it was back to square one. It was a bit frustrating compared to the simplicity of today's calculators.” 

Today, I can easily use the calculator on my phone for an answer to a simple equation; I can’t imagine trying to understand the process of the slide rule. It allowed teachers to project notes, diagrams, and even pages from textbooks onto a screen for the whole class to see. It made lessons more visual and engaging, and it was a big step up from just writing on the chalkboard.” 

This made me think about the share screen option on Zoom lectures which allowed teachers to do the same thing. However, I didn't particularly like the early internet connection we had. It was slow and often disconnected, which could be frustrating.”

While they provided quick feedback, they sometimes struggled to understand the nuances of creative or unconventional writing styles. It felt limiting, especially in subjects that required more subjective analysis.” 

With a major like hers, it can be very difficult for AI graders to understand the emotions and feelings she is trying to convey in her work, so she cannot rely on it to help her.
