Founded by Mahnung ul Haq in 1990.

The United nation uses human development index to evaluate countries in terms of the wellbeing of their citizens. 

The HDI measures in 3 areas: health, education and the standard of living. 

The HDI can provide insights that a single measure cannot, for example a country with a higher GNI might have a lower educational attainment than a country with a lower GNI.
