After the French and Indian War in North America France had to give away all their land, except New Orleans, in order for them to keep their Caribbean islands. Britain then gained all land east of the Mississippi River and Spain got territory west of the Mississippi. This war was the start of the American Revolution.

The Sugar Act was the first attempt the British Government did to start financing. They dropped taxes on molasses to prevent smuggling and raised the production output of British rum; a levy was placed on Madeira wine and some of Colonial exports that had to pass through Britain and British customs first. The act instituted a Vice-Admiralty Court to hear cases of smuggling with no jury and with the idea of already guilty, this led to protesting.

A crowd of civilians were infuriated by the existence of the troops being there and Britain's colonial policy so the crowd began protesting against a group of soldiers that were guarding the customs house. A soldier was knocked out by a snowball, and when he fell his musket discharged sparking a volley into the angered crowd and then kills five people.

The parliament made the Tea act to make the East India Company financially stronger, but it just made The East India Company have a monopoly on selling tea in the colonies. This then angered the merchants who thought this would affect them, for other colonist they thought it restored the hopes of better taxation since it was cheaper. Soon a boycott began and the colonies planned to prevent the tea ships from coming in but when the ships arrived they wouldn't leave so a group of men broke open the tea chest and through it into the harbor.

In the year 1775 colonies started to take matters in their own hands and started gathering arms and powder to be prepared to fight the British in attempt to take their independence back. General Thomas Gare heard about this and didn't worry because he though the colonist weren't fighters he thought they would flee, and when Gage was ordered to arrest Sam Adams and John Hancock in Lexington while the colonist had guns and powder in Concord he decided to approach secretly to avoid a bloody war. Little did he know patriots, William Dawes, and Paul Revere rode out to warn people that the British were coming; so the colonist got ready and when the British approached they shot fire.

The Declaration of Independence is when the 13 American colonies took an act to gain independence from Great Britain's rule once and for all. John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert R. Livingston, and Roger Sherman came together to discuss a way to become independent from Britain. Jefferson originally wrote the Declaration but the rest of the group made some changes and then the Continental Congress approved the document on July 4, 1776.

This battle proved that George Washington's army could defeat one of the worlds most powerful armies, Great Britain. The victory of this battle rescued the Patriots from the defeat in the New York Campaign the year prior to this battle. After crossing the Delaware Washington ensured a ten day campaign that would change the war around and prove that his amateur army could defeat Britain.

When the France recognized the US had independence they took it into their own hands to make acquaintance and become allies. So in doing so they signed the Treaty of Amity and Commerce to promote trade between the two countries and to have peace and an agreement amongst them both, against Britain.

Cornwallis wanted to fight for the town against the British because of industry that's vital to British war that's in Camden, he did not want to loose that or give it up. Unfortunately they lost a brutal battle, 2000 British and Loyalist troops defeated over 4,000 American troops; this battle was the worst patriot defeat in American revolution.

The Articles of Confederation were finally ratified after 16 months, however arguing over who claims Virginia and Maryland delayed the ratification for almost four more years. The Articles was created to establish the way the national government of the United States worked after their independence from Great Britain. However, these Articles were weak and caused a unsupported confederation of states and a janky central government, leaving the power the state governments.

Britain brought up a negotiation with the French and Americans to have peace, the United States wanted to be protected from Russia and France and British wanted the economic links. So the US and France agreed to settle their differences with Britain, Britain then withdrew their troops and the US payed back their debt by giving back property to loyal Britain's that was taken from them when the US took their independence back.

The British Parliament decided to enforce a stamp duty on the Colonist. It imposed a stamp on newspapers and legal/commercial documents which informed taxes directly on the colonists, the stamp was supposed to be on printed materials provided by the distributors who would then collect the tax to get a stamp to go on the materials.

British troops went to Boston to Maintain Order. After the Township Act occurred the colonist actions were getting out of hand so Lord Hillsborough sent 4000 troops to reinstate order in Boston. This made the colonist angry and caused the Boston Massacre and The Boston Tea Party.

Representatives from twelve of Britain's thirteen colonies in America met up and discussed about the colonies future under British rule and the colonist rebellion from it. Because of this convention colonist were given the same rights as Englishmen, also cam to an agreement to stop trade with Great Britain.

A group of armed Rhode Islanders boarded the Gaspee ship, attacked the crew and set fire to the ship and it sank in Narragansett Bay. They did this for rebellion against the British rule over America, this was the first act of violence and none of them got punished for what they did.
