When studying post-dramatic theatre in practice, we were given the task of researching one particular Theatre company that specialises in the genre, upon choosing The Wooster Group, I made this entire PowerPoint detailing the broader aspects of post-dramatic theatre, the history of the Wooster Group, their inspirations and how exactly this company separates itself from others in the post-dramatic space in addition to individual case studies of performances.

Contextual Research: Performing Grieg's 'The Events' and Incorporating Aspects of The Wooster Group performances

In conjunction to our presentation, we performed some sections of David Grieg's 'The Events', beginning our presentation, singing The Norweigian Coffee Song, this is the recorded video of us doing the same which we played behind ourselves, mimicking The Wooster Group's use of multimedia, and recreation of rehearsal. This is a children's song, played and sung simply with a happy tone, which we used as our 'low brow' performance to then juxtapose in tone and style once we finished our presentation. As the presentation ended, 'Bonkers' (by Dizzee Rascal, Armand Van Helden), used in the play, began. We break from our stationary state, walking rushedly and spontaneously around the space to create a sense of chaos and uncertainty. Accompanying this, were more videos of rehearsals, in which we would record our lines in close-up and play them as part of a montage whilst speaking those same lines in the space. I wanted to use lines from the end of the play in which a survivor of a mass shooting asks the perpetrator why he chose to commit the atrocity, then spliced this with the various different political ideologies and beliefs scattered throughout the play. This mimics The Wooster Group's use of contrasting texts, used together, to make the audience think about their own beliefs without a conclusion given in regards to our personal thoughts on each matter.

Within this document I found many images and performance artists that, I personally felt, captured the experience of womanhood across different cultures and time periods.
