An issue that presents itself every class in 1st form is kids are unable to wait. They want everything NOW. If you are helping another student,and they have finished the task, they want you to look at it NOW! And no matter how many times you tell them "I'm helping X classmate, once I'm done, I'll check your work" they STILL come to the desk and ask you to correct their work

I would pair the most distracted kid with the one that pay more attention and get the indications fast, so he/she might help him and encourage him to do the task. According to what we talked in the forum we may have in consideration the feelings of the kid if he suffer from being pair with the distracted one we might change our approach

One case I have in my 1st grade class at a state run school in Caba, is an autotist girl who misbehaves, shouts in the class all the time and many times kicks or bites her classmates. Now she is accompanied with a special teacher, but anyway her behaviour is quite the same as before.

The most challenging behaviors I have or had to cope with are the ones belonging to a TDH or Autistic condition. I don't feel myself prepared to give inmediate solutions to the different reactions that sometimes may occur.

Students who discriminate against others: skin colour, family, size, etc.
Students who finish all the activities faster than the rest of the class and then start judging their classmates' performance. Extremely irritating.

I think on of the most challenging situations is when we have defying students who try to get the teacher´s attention, showing opposition to everything, questioning every single thing and making everyone fall behind with the class.

We take time to say out loud what kind of behaviour hurts us and what bothers us. We will as a group try to think about poossible solutions. Keep them somewhere we can all see to point to them whenever this same situation is repeting itself. We will try to focus on not performing like this ourselves.

Students who do not work in the subject. Students who are violent (with their peers and adults). Fights inside the classroom.

We have tried a lot of strategies by now. I feel I am not prepared to help this work and now rely more in the special teacher this student has.

The girl loves drawing a lot so we let her draw, but she has a lot of bad attitudes and keeps shouting all the time. I have tried talking to her, but when she starts shouting and shouting it is very difficult.

We go on finding more strategies together with the special teacher and the spanish teacher.

In the case of defying students who try to monopolize the class attention and question the teacher all the time, something I do is not to give them room for one-to-one interaction of front of everyone. I politely show who is in charge and I invite the student to talk later on in a different place. You usually find that student need help, somehow. Showing care and interest is key.

While without therapy and work from home, things won't get far, a strategy that works is avoiding prohibitive language. The word "NO" is triggering for them. So you need to reframe your language to avoid ANY prohibition. Instead of "Don't do that" you say "In this class, we do X thing. Why don't you try that" Or loudly congratulate another kids possitive behavior like "Look at how John is doing X! He's doing an amazing job" They will most likely start copying John so they get that positive remark as well

DISTRACTIONS. it is one of the common issues. They don't sleep week. In fact they go to slpeep too late because of the use of cellphones. During classew they got into sleep and misses classes

We can't use onlybone strategy. Every student is different and unique. They have different needs. We should have to get to know them and start to cover their needs. First of all we have to motivate and call them atentio. It' s difficult also we don't have families' support.

I think situations of physical violence are one of the most challenging behaviour problems. Other difficult situations are related to sexuality, e.g. when children lock themselves in the bathrooms to show each other their private parts; or when they try to kiss each other while pretending to play in the classroom.

Find an interesting issue to the student(e.g football),talk about it and relate with the task to motivate beginning with it.

Try other way of practising the content of the activity

Switch places if necessary to let their concentration or to feel observed by the teacher in case of needing help or remembering the time left.

Always check clasrrom mood before beginning the class by taking time to say hello to everybody and having a little conversation about their fellings. If there is any conflict between them, talk about it before starting the class and get an agreegment on how to solve it.
