A lot of peoples view on mountain inhabitants stem from shows such as "Mountain Men" from popular TV channels. Such influences often focus on the intercommunity relations amongst those on the show and emphasize the idea of those in a community support one another.

This recent post contradicts some claims that the Appalachian people are further removed from current politics. In the post, the author clearly emphasizes the communities need for unity and for making people feel safe which is a common theme seen depicted for the Appalachian people.

Adams pictures are some of the top results if one searches for 'Appalachian People'. His photos of the people of Appalachia are almost exclusively in black and white contributing to the idea that Appalachian people are removed from society. This is due to the fact that black and white photos and film are associated with older works of art and films and makes it seem as if these people are living in an older period even though it is the present.
