Joseph warned the pharaoh to store food during seven years of good harvests so that the people of Egypt would have food during the famine.<br>2.When Moses was born, his mother placed him in a basket to prevent him from being killed under the pharaoh’s order.<br>3.When he grew older, God spoke to Moses through a burning bush, commanding him to lead the Israelite's out of slavery in Egypt to<br>freedom in Canaan, the land of his forefathers.<br><br>2 Things I learned<br>1.          <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Ruth was not born an Israelite, but was from the land of Moab. She married the son of an Israelite woman named Naomi.<br>2. When both of their husbands<br>died, Ruth chose to return with Naomi to Bethlehem in the area of the tribe of Judah so that the two could rebuild their lives together.<br>3. Naomi eventually found another Israelite husband for Ruth, and Ruth’s grandson would become the great King David.<br><br>2 Things that Surprised Me <br>1. She served as judge around 1100 BCE and successfully stopped an invasion by Jabin, the king of Canaan.<br>2. Jewish religious leaders, or rabbis, count 613 laws, called mizvot in Hebrew, in the Torah. The religion of the ancient Israelite's began to evolve into Judaism, with some of its familiar observances and practices, during the Jewish exile in Babylon and the two centuries under Persian rule after they returned to Jerusalem.<br>2. In 332 BCE, the Persian Empire was conquered by a Greek army under the leadership of Alexander the Great. Most of the peoples conquered by the Greeks embraced Greek culture.<br>3. In 132 CE, a second Jewish revolt broke out. After four years, it was crushed by the Romans.<br><br>2 Things I Learned <br>1. Most of the peoples conquered by the Greeks embraced Greek culture.<br>2.
