The calibre of the entries was outstanding and the judges were most definitely put to the test. Leo took the top award with his speech persuading us that we all need to learn about the impact of politics and democracy with Felicia (the importance of allergy education) and Kwashi (the importance of understanding white privilege) taking the runner up positions. 

Congratulations to all the finalists. It was a privilege to see you perform and you can all be immensely proud of your achievements. 

This week has been our cross-country week for Years 7, 8 and 9. With the week starting quite mild before turning wet and wintery the students have been met with a course that has become increasingly more challenging as the days went by. However, meet that challenge they have and with some outstanding individual performances.

Although we know that we have some very keen and able runners, we also know that, for some, this can prove a significantly difficult event. With our emphasis on setting personal goals and trying their best we are so pleased with the number of students who persevered, showed great resilience and completed their runs with a sense of pride and achievement that they couldn’t help but share with us at the finish. This has been a complete pleasure to see.

We have had a brilliant week here at Chailey with a great turnout at Year 10 parents evening, as well as our Year 11s doing us proud in their trial exams, and all other year groups taking to cross country with mixed enthusiasm (very much depending on the weather!)

We have got lots to look forward to in the coming week, including the trip to Cologne, Year 10 Work Experience Evening, and continued rehearsals for the school show 'Back to The Eighties.'
