Names : Elton , Lewis , Katriel , Luke

Community Support in a whole has indeed led to greater integration in Singapore through means such as the grassroots organisation organising meet and greet sessions and events.
Such examples would be the free screening of international soccer matches in a community centre . This event let Singaporeans and
Foreigners bond together through a common interest in football and it lets foreigners feel safe and have an impression that Singaporeans are friendly. Meet and greet sessions also lets foreigners feel welcomed to the neighbourhood and allows them to make local friends. Making local friends in neighbour allow them to share different cultures which at the same time still keeping their cultures with them therefore having greater integration (Ms Teo: How does making friends lead to greater integration? Gap in explanation.)
Thus in a nutshell , community support has lead to greater integration in Singapore by making foreigners feel more welcomed through events that allow them to bond with Singaporeans and make friends.

Names: Yan Ting, Yu Hui, Si Sheng, Carl, Bryan Lim

The bilingual policy basically states that all Singapore citizens must learn two languages, English and a Mother Tongue language. For example, in our school, majority of students study Mandarin Chinese or Malay as their Mother Tongue. This bilingual education will allow students to be able to communicate effectively to people in two different languages, English, which is a common language that can be understood by many, and their Mother Tongue, which can be communicated to foreigners who are not familiar with English. (Ms Teo : So how do they communicate? in their mother tongue? Gap in explanation).

Foreigners will not feel left out as they can easily communicate with others, and can better integrate into our society as they soon learn how to speak English (Ms Teo : GOOD!), while also being fluent in their own native language. This will lead to greater integration as the foreigners adapt to speaking English while also maintaining their cultural roots by speaking with their native language as well. (Ms Teo : So how does this lead to GREATER integration?)

Pair: Kenneth and Hong Wei
Yes, I truly agree with MP Darryl David's suggestion for mandatory English Proficiency Tests in Singapore. The reason is that Singapore is a multicultural country. The common language in English. There are different ethnic and culture in Singapore. So, in order to communicate with people with different ethnics and culture, most Singaporeans should use English to communicate with each other. Anther reason is that most of the activities held by the government such, as the community event, are in English. This would cause people, especially those who could not speak English, to have hard time communicating with other people and causing misunderstanding. So, with the help of mandatory English Proficiency Tests, people in Singapore could learn English and the case of misunderstanding and miscommunication of inability of speaking English will reduce.

Pair: Gabriel and Khairina
Yes, I agree with MP Darryl David's suggestion for mandatory English Proficiency Tests in Singapore for those becoming new Singapore citizens. The common language used in Singapore is English. For example, the host of a community event welcoming new citizens will speak in English so that everyone can understand. Hence, MP Darryl David wants the new citizens to learn English Language so that they will be able to communicate with the locals and get along with them. With this mandatory English Proficiency Tests, misunderstanding and miscommunication will be reduced since new citizens are able to speak basic English. Thus, new citizens should learn how to speak basic English Language as it helps them to fit in better into the society.

Pair: Lewis and Elton
Yes i agree with MP Darryl David's suggestion for mandatory English Proficiency Tests as there should be a common language used among the citizens in Singapore. Since english is the main spoken language in Singapore, the more the people coming to Singapore should take the test. This is so that they can communicate better with other people in the society and would not have the language barrier. Also, this mandatory english test helps them to understand things in Singapore better as all the government letters sent to their houses are mostly in english. Therefore i agree with MP Darryl David's suggestion.

Pair: Yuzi and Xinyu
Yes, we agree. As english is Singapore's official language, immigrants who wants to live in Singapore should learn english too. As most of the singaporeans speak english, immigrants should also speak english so that they would understand what singaporeans are talking about. This would also help immigrants to integrate into our society because we speak a common language. Hence, we agree that immigrants should learn english , but at the same time, keeping their own culture and beliefs.
