The African proverb "A wise man never knows all, only fools know everything," is saying that only a fool believes that he has nothing more to learn, but a wise man knows that he always has more to learn. A fool may believe that after his formal education is over because he has graduated college and that he has nothing more to learn, but a wise man knows that you can learn something new everyday, regardless of your age or profession. If someone thinks that they know everything they close their mind to learning new things and lose the chance to be a better, more educated person. I think this directly relates to Shakespeare's quote "The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool." Shakespeare is saying that if you think you know all and are wise, you have closed your mind to new experiences, making you a fool. The other half of the quote is saying that the wise man knows that he is a fool in the overall scheme of life and can always find out something he never knew before, making him wise. This proverb is saying that a person should never assume that they have nothing more to learn because it is impossible to know everything, and if you don't realize that and consider yourself wise just because you are educated, you are really a fool.
