We decided to experiment with some clothes, we wanted to explore the different ways we could make objects and how each method differentiated from the others. Originally we had set out to use an actor but we decided to change our idea to use objects instead. This was because it is extremely difficult to ask a person to be completely still. When we decided to use objects we researched the different objects that we could use. A lot of animators had used things like household objects or things they had found outdoors. These ides did appeal to us but we wanted to explore slightly further. We found an animated piece called "Her Morning Elegance" in which the animator used clothes in order to make things like tables, street lamps, etc. This really appealed to us as we each had an abundance of clothes to use. When we experimented with using clothes we found out that to make a person we would need to buy smaller clothes as the clothes we had were way too big. To solve this issue we went to the town centre and bought some children clothes. These clothes were much smaller, which allowed us to continue with our idea.

In my opinion this question was a Bit of a risk as it was an open question. Open questions often give much more detailed answers but also allow the participants to give less professional answers. From this question, I received quite a few answers that were extremely unprofessional and completely off topic. This could be due to the age of the participants or that they didn't want to take the questionnaire seriously. Either way, these types of answers do not help at all.

As I am a firm believer that there is a stigma around men talking about there problems. I wanted to see if others also agreed with my view. This is why I originally planned for the character to be male but after re-considering we decided that the character should have no gender so the audience can decide for themselves.

In todays lesson, I decided to focus on some secondary research. this included creating a document looking at some professionals in the animation industry. In this document I looked at Norman McLaren, Michael Langan, Jared Goldberg and Segundo de Chomon. This is because each of these professionals have created at least one piece of work that has influenced our idea. The only issue with these animators is that they all only use the straight on camera approach. This isn't the style we were looking to use so I also created another document in which I looked at the Birds eye view camera technique. I found a piece called "Her Morning Elegance" by Oren Lavie. This was exactly the style we were looking to achieve. A birds eye view shot type, the use of clothing to make other objects. The only huge difference between the two projects is that in Her Morning Elegance, there is also an actor present. We did think about using an act but decided against it as we thought there would be too many issue involved. For example, it is extremely difficult for a human being to remain completely still. this would result in a lot of re-shoots being needed, which would then take a lot more time and as we only have four days to film the visuals for our project, we decided that this would be a wast of time.

In todays lesson, I decided to take part in a photoshop tutorial, and also collard the results for the questionnaire that I created yesterday. I believe that my skills regarding Photoshop and of an average level but I wanted to improve certain aspects so I could implement them on my FMP. My project is involving animation. In animation many people use rigging in oder to make objects appear as though they are floating. this is one of the many different techniques that can be applied to an animated piece of work to boost it to a higher standard. After completing this workshop, I decided to continue with my secondary research. This consisted of looking at how mathematics is used within the media industry and also researching the different shot type that are predominantly used in well known animated pieces of work. This was to improve my knowledge of the industry but also to help me develop my idea. From this research I have since decided to change my camera view from straight on to bird's eye view. After completing my secondary research I then went on to collating my primary research results.

In todays lesson, I Decided to focus on my primary research. This was because I used my time outside of college to make a start on my secondary research. This was more efficient as primary research required more people and I thought college would be the perfect place to utilise the sheer mass of people that attend Harlow College. As my 1 to 1 interviews weren't about media and more about the topic of mental health, The people within the media block would be useable. If my interview would have been about media related topics then I would have to venture out a little further as I would be unable to use my peers within the subject. This is because They would have inside knowledge on the topic and therefore may answer questions with bias.
