Religion
Regardless of a family's class/social standing and wealth, everyone was expected to attend a Protestant and not Catholic Church every Sunday, because by this time, Queen Elizabeth had already taken over from her sister, Queen Mary, and changed the whole country from Catholic to Protestant, even though Mary, being Catholic herself, had wanted the rest of England to be Catholic.

Family for women:
The Elizabethan home was very men-dominated, so the women were seen as inferior to the men, whether the man was her brother, husband, father, or even son, was irrelevant. Since Elizabethan women weren't allowed to work like men were, poor families who ended up with daughters would often arrange a marriage for her with a wealthier family in order to secure their own wealth, even if she was very young and the man intended for her was much older.

Shakespeare in Love, the award-winning masterpiece starring Joseph Fiennes as the Bard and Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow as his lady love, is perhaps one of the best depictions of the life and roles of Elizabethan era women. It was a male dominated societyElizabethan women had little or no control at all over their destinies. Normally, it was a male who made decisions for the Elizabethan era women, without as much as a consultation with or affirmation from the women involved. In the case of Gwyneth Paltrow’s character, Viola, it was her father who promised her to an aristocratic family, without asking her whether the marriage suited her.
