Teachers are facing with way more challenges than before. Therefore, teachers need to work together to support student learning. New teachers face many problems to get used to the environment, school culture, students needs, curriculum and more. On the other hand, experienced teachers face with many issues as well because the skills they developed in the past are no longer sufficient to meet their students’ diverse needs. Staff development programs take a significant role at this point. Staff development can be through workshops, learning institutes. Peer coaching programs are also another way to develop as well. Peer coaching involves teachers supporting teachers as they apply and reflect on new ways of teaching to better meet the needs of students.
"Teachers’ continuing professional development is essential to meet the ever-changing needs of students in today’s schools. However, traditional types of staff development are not sufficient to ensure that new ways of teaching will become the norm in classrooms. Not only do teachers need
time to practice new instructional practices in the context of their classrooms, but they also need support from their peers"
