It said "It was a small plane, a Cessna 406-a bush plane-and the engine was loud, so roaring and consuming and loud, that it ruins any chance of conversation"(p.1). Mr. Smith used to ride a bush plane since he lived In between Alaska and Russia ( Bering street ). He said that when he lived there he had to use the bush plane to go to Canada since it did not have and airport. He explains that when he round it. it was very loud.

"Chest! Oh God, my chest is coming apart! Brian knew now. The pilot was having a heart attack" (p.10) Savannah's Grandpa in Australia suffer with and heart attack, and Savannah was write there, she also kind of scared.

In Brian's case they live very far away so that is always pretty hard for children like him since this always happens in real life.

Brian was the only one on the plane aside from the pilot. Brian didn't talk to much to the pilot since Brian didn't even know the pilot's name. Brian was Thinking back over the events that have led to his being where he is on the trip. Brian thinks about the word "divorce." It is, he thinks, "a tearing, ugly word that meant fights and yelling, lawyers." Brian also thinks about the word "secrets," or rather, about the Secret  that he knows about his mother, a secret that he hasn't shared with anyone. We aren't told what the secret is. After a while Brian started to chat with the pilot. After they were done Brian waited by himself looking outside the window. Until the pilot was acting weird. He had symptoms of a heart attack. Seconds past and Brian was alone in the roaring plane with no pilot.
(Chapter 1)

 This chapter starts with Brian realizing that the plane is going down, and he feels frozen with fear. He is alone and he realizes that he has to do something. The plane is starting to angle down, and Brian knows he has to try to fly it with his knowledge from reading books about planes. Brian eventually gets a grip to fly the plane. Brian also tries to use the pilot's to get contact with the missionary.

Split." Why did Brian's parents divorce? and, Why did they not tell Brian?  
I wonder how Brian feels after the divorce and why he has not told is parents what he knows about the divorce because they can help him feel better and know that the divorce is something Brian can do something about and does not have to worry about.

Co-pilot's seat: is a seat that is next to the main pilot's seat and it is meant to be for the person assisting the main pilot. (p.1)
Tenderness: It is a feeling of concern gentle affection or warmth. It's the quality of a person who cries when they see someone get hurt or who gently pick up a tiny kitten. (p.9)
'Scootch': the verb to 'scootch' has nothing to do with the well known liquor.(p.9)
Stricken: Stricken means overwhelmed by emotion “When you saw the pretty new girl at school smiling you walked right into a wall.”  (p.12)
Rigid: to describe something as rigid if it's really stiff and not very flexible like a super-strict practice schedule or an unbending, uncomfortable mattress. (p.10)
