The video by Aquascape Ponds is 7 minutes long, 8 years old, liked by two and a half thousand people, and viewed by 553,000. They are, actually, corporate producers but the supplies and resources could easily be sourced oneself rather than purchased for $2000 Canadian, as advertised on their website. The video has semi professional elements, seamless media integration and provides many of the same colloquial expectations that othersocial media creators and influences utter, such as requesting liking and subscribing to their channel (both of which I have done.) Comments are disabled, which is not helpful, but watching someone else perform the task alongside guided instruction is invaluable. I wonder if I will actually be able to do this myself? Will keep you posted!

The post was lengthy but helpful nonetheless. I would've appreciated an icon or an image attached to the site to help identify the self-timer symbol. Thank you for incentivizing this discussion. It was fun!

The video starts with showcasing using a pressure washer to clean out the older grout. I was considering using a screwdriver for this step, but this seems quicker. I feel like I have already learned something new from this video. The following section then talks about fixing pavers that have sunk down into the ground. Afterwards, they added paver base (or masonry sand as a substitute) to make up the difference and put the pavers back in the topped-up hole. After this, they used the leaf blower to clean the area. Then, they placed polymeric sand down and used a broom to move it into the holes. Finally, with the leftover material, they used the leaf blower again to clean the area. The use of a leaf blower is another step that I didn't think about when relaying them down, and it makes for an easier job of cleaning up.

One of the things that I liked in this video is that it didn't seem overly technical. The points were presented in a way that didn't seem intimidating. One of the interesting components of open DIY learning, it is ease of finding resources, helping users complete their objective.

The video has over 670,000 views in the two years since it was posted. One of the aspects I enjoyed about the video was the step-by-step unpackaging of the box. It was easy and clear to understand what the creator was doing with simple instructions and zoomed in portions of the video about how to hide the cable from the front windshield and guide the wire all the way to the 12V outlet. After watching this straightforward DIY video, one of the tasks that I felt like I was putting off wasn't nearly as difficult as I originally thought.

I was recently mid-job on replacing one of the toilets in my home and needed to double check exactly how to know the wax ring was lined up. I searched for videos; this came up. It was useful (enough) to give me an idea. I didn't do what he did, but it helped me through. The DIY affordance of YouTube makes us unafraid to learn and tackle new projects ourselves, on demand when needed/desired. Total game changer!
