Yesterday we began to discuss some educational reforms and their successes and impact on the future of education (aka now).

In small groups (2-4 students), create a plan for future education reforms. Consider what future school reforms will be like, what reforms might be needed to better educate generations, and so on. One group member should record your ideas here (make sure all names are on the Padlet post)

-Some school reforms could be: Instead of going from 8:00 to 3:00 we could go from 9-4 because as Mrs. O'shea stated yesterday teenagers work better from 9-4.

-Also there should be breaks between classes, to prevent things like burn-out.

-Another suggestion could be to have stand-up desks. They are proven to be healthier than just sitting for hours on end.

Our group thinks that an educational reform that would make future education more successful is to expand electives. Meaning that instead of having so many other classes that are not so useful for the future, school would provide students with classes that would teach them more useful skills that will stick with them through their adulthood. Although many schools already incorporate many elective classes for their students, a lot of other schools don't have this. Having elective classes for cooking, knitting, finances, or whatever the person is interested in will be more helpful than taking classes like chemistry. Most people just take chemistry to pass it but don't get anything out of it and just forget after high school. Overall, having more elective classes would be more useful and it would have a lasting benefit for the life of future students.
