Date Read 8/22/20
Review
This book is about a women who was from Xalapa, Mexico. She gave birth to a child and then moved to the U.S. as an immigrant. It went through her struggles in this basically new world and how she came across a library where her and her son learn to write, read and speak from the books they borrowed. I like this book because it shows life from a different perspective but also enforces reading and going to the library to the youngers students.
Age/Audience
This book is for children in preschool & elementary school. It is for kids who know the struggles of immigration and need something to relate to. Also for the children who need a window into someone else’s life. This book is also for kids who enjoy reading and going to the library.
Connect to Serravallo (2015)
I could use this book to with Activity 6.12 “Empathize to Understand” in Serravallo (2015) because in this activity you pick out the things that are happening to her and you ask why is this happening, or the kids can try to put themselves in her shoes which will really help with understanding others better.

Date Read 8/28/20
Review
This book is about Carmela a little girl who just had her birthday and her wish came true because she was old enough to go to on the errands with her older brother. She finds a dandelion and makes a lot of wishes on it but it falls a apart after an accident. Her brother seeing her upset takes her to a dandelion field where she can make as many wishes as she wants. Age/Audience
The age for this book would be preschool through elementary. The kids that read this book would like it because it talks about making wishes and keeping them with you, giving a sense of hope. Connect to Serravallo (2015)
I could use this book to with Activity 5.1 “Lean on the Pictures” in Serravallo (2015) because in this activity will help the kids because if they want to know the story from just the pictures they can do that first and see how well they did on the second run of actually reading the book. The art in this book is amazing.

Date Read 8/31/20
Review
This book is about how Albidaro the guardian of children let a mischeveous dream float around to them and all of the animals in the world. So that all of them can do anything they wanted to without consequences, the children became sad because the animals were recking everything and his sister Olara the guardian of animals had to help him restore order. Age/Audience
The age level for this book is 1-2 graders. The audience is going to be children who love fantastical stories and it is a good story to use to help keep children from being to crazy.
Connect to Serravallo (2015)
I could use this book to with Activity 7.7 “Mistakes Can Lead to Lessons” in Serravallo (2015) because in this activity is about looking for the lessons in the mistakes and the book is basically one gigantic mistake and lesson learned from it.

Date Read 8/31/20	Review
Horace Pippin was a self taught artist, when he was younger he found supplies around to paint. He painted all sorts of things he sees around in his life. At first no one noticed him but then the president of an art club saw his work and they held a show for it. He started becoming really famous and his career boomed.	Age/Audience
This book is for children in elementary school. The kids who read this will see what working hard to achieve your dreams look like, as well as doing things because you love to do them not just because you have to. Also it will show kids how hard he worked and how little he had at the beginning of the story. Connect to Serravallo (2015)
I could use this book to with Activity 9.18 “Asking Questions” in Serravallo (2015) because in this activity you can keep a list of questions throught the book that you have and at the end go over them, or see if they were answered already somewhere in the book.
