I stood and watched the tanks stay there and people were not there. The tanks danced they moved around and then this man went out there and said stop to the tanks. He climbed on the tanks and told them to stop. The man jumped off the tank and then he still stood in front of the tank and stopped them again. Then I hide the camera roll folding at the top of the toilet and then they came to find it but they didn't and I went back and got it but I was surprised because if someone flushed it. It would have been gone forever. After he was just standing there people came and took him away and no one knows where he went or what happened to him.

I was protesting in Tiananmen Square against violence, repression, and corruption. There were around 1 million people there walking around with banners and signs until officers threatened legal action. Everybody refused to leave until they brought out shooters, thousands of people died that day.

I was called there to control the angry protestors, but when they weren't leaving, then me and other officers had to take action. That one young man who stood in front of the tanks shocked me, and the photographer hid the image in his toilet, he changed the world for me. Apparently that young man stood for his country, so I just couldn't believe my eyes of what this young man did. I couldn't believe that so many people made a carnival-like line of protests, and freedom quickly spread. In 400 cities, they were all protesting. The movement spread quickly, they were in all sorts of vehicles. This scared a lot of us because we never expected this to happen. Then ordinary workers were involved in the protests. The communist party was crazy. They said to end the situation immediately. And then that's when they sent us in.
