Yes you can compare the massive affect on how Stanley and Brian change. Brian goes from a puny New York kid to a kid that lives in the wild all by himself having to deal with his own problems. The same kind of goes to Stanley. Stanley starts as a fat kid that got bullied in school from a kid that helped save a kids life climbing up a mountain and also not getting bullied any more and having lots of friends, including Zero and Clyde Livingston.

He buried the eggs in the sand so he doesn't get tempted to eat them. He makes a spear and tries to catch fish, but the fish are just too quick. He keeps trying but then he eventually decides to make a bow and arrow. Then Brian hears a plane so he rushes and tries to make the fire but he took to long.
